I have an offer to purchase a glock model 17, stamped Austria not US, comes with 2 mags, it is a gen 3, and used to be a law enforcement. They have agreed to $325.00 and I was wondering if that sounds like a good deal, great deal or walk away from. I assume the law enforcement hand guns get allot of rounds thru them, the gun functions good and surprising very clean, no holster wear or any other wear, so I was wonder what you guys that have more experience in them let me know more about this.
thanks

Go for it.
I recently bought a gen 3 17(contract gun) off Gunbroker for that same price. Mine only came with 1 mag, but had night sights. Shoots fine.

Go for it! Most people are mistaken on how many rounds a LEO actually fire

As a duty gun they are periodically checked by an armorer.

If you're in the hunt for a gun I would say yes for sure

I would jump on that one? The normal officer will not shoot that much. If they just like to shoot or are in a specialty unit then they will shoot more, but for that price go for it. A Glock armorer can go through it, if you can find one. I can't count the number that I have checked and been through. Only had to replace a trigger bar one time and that was a fluke. My SWAT guys never had any problems with their Glock 22's and we went through some rounds.

I've got a Gen 2 I bought in 2006 that was a police turn in since the gun shop had the city contract and took in all the guns and supplied the newer Gen 3's to the dept.
When I had the chance to buy one the guy pulled two boxes out from behind the counter and told me to pick the one I wanted. I was like a kid at Christmas so I tried to find one that showed the least wear and I got a good one that I've shot many a round through and never had a problem.
Night sights are still bright, so yes I would say that it's a good deal!

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Unless there are obvious issues with it you cant go wrong with a Glock at $325.

I wouldn't say it is a great deal on a trade in but if you want a glock then I would do it. Police trade in means squat, just that it is used. That gun will take more rounds and still function fine then you would want to shoot through it.

A lot of cops are not gun people and don't shoot more than they have to. That means qualifications at a minimum of once a year. So a 10 year old LEO Glock could have as low as 2,000-3,000 rounds through it. Realistically they probably have 5,000-10,000 rounds through them at most.

There are Glock 17's with well over 100,000 rounds through them and still going strong. Buying a LEO trade in gun is not an issue, if the price is right.

The worst case scenario on the pistol is that it belonged to a member of a SWAT team. They typically spent more time on the range and have more rounds through them. If, for some reason this is the case and the barrel is worn, you can always order a replacement barrel. Most police pistols are shot only once or twice a year for 50-100 rounds at a time.

Go for it, but...

If you decide against it, PM me if the deal is local to DFW grin

yep, I went a head and pulled the trigger (so to speak) got a little better deal, it was just hard to turn down. Now time to burn some ammo, who sells it cheap? I figure everyone is pretty close on price. how will that cheap alum case cycle thru it. I seen the other day they are making the snake shot in ammo for semi auto pistols now, any one use it? looks like that plastic tip would get mashed and jam?
