I am assuming you are talking just an upper receiver? IIRC the only difference is the 458 SOCOM upper's port door opening has been enlarged to fit .458 SOCOM and the other comparable rounds. So yes it should work

I have a 5.56 barrel on a 450 Bushmaster upper. Works fine. Biggest problem I have is ever time I see "450 Bushmaster" on the side I start thinking about buying a 450 or 458 barrel and bolt to swap out.
Shoot. Eat. Repeat.

Thanks that is what I thought, I was going to build an 458 then I decided I rather have something cheaper to shoot.
