Building a 9" .300BO....anyone know how close a 50yrd subsonic zero would be to a 100yrd super sonic zero.

Trying to decide if I want to put a red dot or 1-4x20 type scope on it.

I know a friend that shoot a 300 BO with a 100 yard zero with supersonics will drop about 2.5 MILs at 100 with subsonics out of a 16" gun

Only one way to find out, and that's put it on paper.

With supers a 50 yard zero is close to a 200 yard zero, so you would be impatcting high at 100, but only by .5 Mil, give or take. So if Tye is telling that subs cause a 2.5 Mil drop at 100 yards shooting on a supersonic zero. The math suggests that with a 50 yard zero (on subs) you will impact 2.0 Mil low at 100 yards. a.k.a. 7.2"

I have an AAC 9" 300BO and I put the Nikon P-223 3X scope on it. I discovered that with a 100 yard super zero (110 V-max factory), that 220 subs (A-max factory) was the third hash down at 50 yards. This has served me VERY well.

I would for sure go with the scope over the red dot, but then my 50+ year old eyes do not play with a red dot as well as a scope.

Something like Matt is using can work very well using the hashes for the sub loads, just make sure to remember which load you have loaded for which aiming line to use.

Go with a 1-4. It does everything a red dod will ever do, and then some.

PSA has the Bushnell 30mm 1-4x24 for $69.99!! Have one on my 10/22. Only downside is it is very heavy!

Is it the trophy? If so, I have one and it works great!

I put the Pride Fowler 1.5-4x scope on mine. It's marked for 110g supers and 220g subs with the ballistic drop for both every 50 yards. Works really well so far. It's a good scope for the price, but the illuminated reticle is horrible. Did I say horrible? I should say useless. The glow fills the whole optics with light and makes it so you can't see through the scope in low light. But other than that, it's a fine scope.

If you go red dot, then I suggest also getting the flip over magnifier, but those are not cheap.
