Just got this email from T/C (S&W) after being told in April that they are producing them (as still noted on their website) and that more would be on the market as the year progressed.

Subject: T/C Venture 6.5x55

Dear ________,

I am sorry we had a production hold on that caliber. That was shortly after our email. I am very sorry for the inconvenience.

Smith & Wesson values all of its consumers and are happy to have assisted you to the best of our ability today. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require further assistance.

Sincerely,

James

I don't understand it. I guess manufacturers don't pay attention to the market at all. Modern 6.5x55s sell for a PREMIUM on Gunbroker and other sites! Guess I will contact Euro-Optic about backordering a Tikka. I really wanted to see what the Venture hype is all about...

It sure is hard to tell who owns who anymore. I didn't know that, not that it matters but it's weird

Ckat, Thanks for the heads up. Good To Know. I just wonder when Smith moved all the TC stuff into Springfield - if they actually closed the New Hampshire plant - that they had any idea just how extensive a product line TC produced, much less had time for any new stuff.

I know in looking at GB it looks like all the older niche items in Ventures are not there that I saw last spring. Lots of Bread and Butter standard stuff & the asking prices are higher too.

I went on an sold my 308 today, and will sell some other stuff too and continue to downsize and consolidate into just one caliber or 2 at most but either way into different cartridges...but really PO'd me to miss a steal on GB of cherry looking used 270WSM Classic Kimber @ $700 with a beautimous piece of walnut under it last weekend....woulda gone NICE with my T3 SS/syn 270WCF ....Snooze Ya Looze for sure.

Prolly gonna try to do a couple 6.5's or 7mm somethin's and/or 1-2 of each. I'm too old to try and keep up with all the multiples of bullets & powders for half a dozen calibers given the way supplies are these days.
