Thank you to everyone who voiced an opinion on my last question of 308 vs. 30-06. I have decided that for me, the 308 will do just fine for the hunting I will be doing.
Now, please help me some more. I am close to Lubbock and this past Saturday went to Academy and looked at their rifles. Here is my one hot-button issue: I want a rifle with an adjustable trigger.
At the Academy store, I asked to see a 308 in the Winchester Model 70. That is the make and model of my 243 and I know it has the adjustable trigger. I was told "we don't carry Winchester's and never have".
The only brand rifle they carry with an adjustable trigger is a Savage with the Accu-trigger.
Where can I find a good rifle in 308 with an adjustable trigger that won't cost a fortune. I realize everything is available for the right price, but come on, I am a family man with a limited budget.
Thanks everyone.

Take a look at the new Remington 700s with the X trigger. My son has one in 308 and we love the trigger. Not only is it adjustable, it is user adjustable (don't have to take it to a gunsmith).

Weatherby Vanguard Synthetic Factory-tuned, fully adjustable trigger. All Weatherby® rifles are guaranteed to shoot a 1 1/2" or better 3-shot group at 100 yards. Avaiable in .308 $399 http://www.weatherby.com/product/rifles/vanguard/syntheticAcademy carries Vanguard, but it doesn't really matter, they are $399 everywhere.

I would look at the Remington 700, or Savage. To me the Savage is just BUTT UGLY but they do shoot really well. Go look at 'em. Pick them up, see how the feel. There are a lot more accessory add ons for Remingtons to enhance your rifle through time. Myself, I shoot Remingtons.

CZ. With it's Set trigger capability, you wont need anything else! And hmm let see, IIRC, it is also adjustable. Not to mention gnat butt accuracy.

If the CZ model in .308 has a set trigger...it should... then come up to Van Alstyne, and try the trigger in my CZ .221 Fireball.

Remington 700 triggers are somewhat user adjustable. I adjust every one I get a hold of. Can usually get them down to about 2-2.5# and still keep them very safe. I've got a link at home to a complete set of instructions. Very easy to do.
No experience with Salvage rifles.
Win 70's are great rifles too. I like mine.
I think Tikka rifles have adjustable triggers too.
Several options. For me, the tried and true Remmy 700 is my go to for a consistent performing product. Never had one that wouldn't shoot better than me.

Weatherby Vanguard or Howa or a Tikka T3 would be my choice these days. I also love older Remington 700 and model seven rifles.

Tikka T3. If it's anything like mine, you won't need to adjust the trigger.

NO to the crapputrigger
Remington, Tikka, or Cz
I just got a new Remington with the xmark trigger, adjust with an allen wrench that is provided. Takes about 15 sec. to adjust.

Don't buy until you find a Tikka T3 to handle. I was told that and sure enough, I bought the Tikka.
Trigger is adjustable from 2-5 lbs. It is very crisp.

I have the Tikka T3 Lite Stainless in 25-06. It's so light it does have some kick to it. In a .308 it would be substantial but a limbsaver pad might make it tolerable

Winchester Model 70's are being made again by the FN factory in South Carolina. Most gun stores have them now.

Savage, Tikka, Browning, Ruger-these are all great brands. Savage makes a great gun for a great price. I wouldn't touch any new Remington gun made. 2 shotguns and 1 700 CDL 30-06....all broke out of the box.

Another vote for the Vanguard. You can tweak the trigger to get some of the weight out or you can drop in a Timney and it will be all you ever need. It's a great gun. I've got one in 22-250 and it shoots great. It's not the prettiest thing around but does the job on whatever it's pointed at.
Great bargain at $399 too.
