I’m got on a lease and set up a feeder last weekend, it’s been up for 5 nights I think feeding twice daily. I’ve seen a couple pigs every night on the cam and one or two kind of show up throughout the day. They’re not there at feeding time but more like a couple hours after. I haven’t seen any deer yet but don’t know how long it usually takes to get the deer to find it.

I didn’t set it up over and game trails but it’s in between 2 that are probably 20-30 yards away max. I had seen a deer in the group of trees next to where I set my feeder when I first looked at the property so I assumed deer would be using those trails but I haven’t seen anything but pigs on the cam. There’s also a pond about 70 yards away so it’s near water but I expected to at least catch a deer passing by on the cams by now.

I’m going to give it a week or two more before I really consider moving it but not sure what to expect.

Deer can smell corn up to almost 400 yards. If it's been up for 5 days they would have found it by now. Are you seeing a lot of coons on your cameras if so they will challenge deer for corn and run them off.

Have patience..... green grass is growing so they won't hit corn too often. At my lease I may have a deer or two on camera every 7-10 days. They will eventually start trickling in. I remember when I set up my feeder it was over a week before I got anything on camera.

Spend time with the ones you love. Time is not guaranteed.

Shoot those pigs, they are eating the corn you put out for the deer. As mentioned, there is likely a lot of green vegetation there for them.

Getting into the time food and some high protein food available in the woods and fields now, right after the hardest time on deer. They are enjoying the natural groceries now and will go to feeders some but nothing like they do through the Winter and late Summer which are the hardest times as far as natural food for them.

A few winters back we set up a second feeder at an existing blind. It was a new feeder, it had never had corn in it, and we had not put corn in it yet. It probably smelled like new oily metal, not corn. We planned on hooking up the batter and filling it the next day. As I hunted that evening deer were walking around that feeder looking for corn. Not only do they know what a feeder smells and sounds like, they know what one looks like. When deer are hungry, they will come looking.
Like others have said, spring growth is good and this is probably the worse time to expect deer at feeders. For us deer may come to a feeder, but it seems to be more out of habit as they pass through than being hungry. They may stop for a few nibbles of corn, but they move on.

We had one guy on our lease for years, he always waited till the evening before opening day to set up. He would bring corn to put in his feeders Friday evening, at dark. He always shot deer opening day.
