Right at about 700 55gr .224 rim-fire jacketed HP's. Right out of the tumbler. Sorry about the bad manicure; workin' hands...LOL

Very nice pertnear. Swaging is cool! Swagers have to be the smallest sub group of all reloaders.

Yeah Corbin makes some awesome swaging presses. Glad they finally updated their website - their old one was confusing as all hell. No better use for spent 22 LR cases than turning them into jackets! Did you just buy their full 224 kit they advertise for 2,250.00?
I still need to pick up a few more dies from them...

Pass the gravy.

I still need to pick up a few more dies from them... I bought my dies & press from RCE (Robert Corbin Equipment) for around $800 about 10 years back. Dave & Robert are brothers that must have had a falling-out & both went their separate ways early on. Dave is a much better business man than Robert & took the Corbin name to a common brand. Since my original purchase, I've added an adjustable core mold & cannalure tool so I'm about a $1k in. No doubt I could have bought a lifetime of .224 bullets for that! LOL

Thanks for the post. It brings back very old memories. If I recall correctly it was Vernon Speer (yeah... that one) took fired 22 LR cases and formed them around a lead slug into .224 bullets. He did this during WW2 as ammo was nearly impossible to find in the civilian market. He turned it into the Speer Bullet CO.
I admire his and your ingenuity. The art of making lemonade out of lemons has largely been forgotten.

Resourceful people do resourceful things. Good looking bullets. It has been years since I saw someone shooting bullets made from lead and 22lr cases.

This is the latest project rifle I bought. Old Rem 722 (1950's?) in .222 with a Weaver 8x dual cross-hair scope. The stock was bubba'd up pretty bad. It was shortened for a kid & the forend had some deep gouges. With a recoil pad added to fix the LOP & re-doing the stock its a good start. I have more plans but first was to pillar & glass bed. A better scope was added to prove accuracy. I got a good deal on the rifle because of its condition & I admit I was intrigued by the Weaver 8x, but I sold it to knock more money off my bargain rifle. Here is a pic as received. Here is the targets I shot last week using 50gr RF jacketed bullets. I was testing different powders & fine-tuning the seating depth. Each target is 3-shots at 100 yds. I've settled on 23.5gr of WC-844 @ 1.876" BTO. The stock refinished with ebony forend tip, ebony grip cap & recoil pad. Tru-oil finish.

Nice job on that stock!
It looks like you're getting there with those bullets, too. Are you planning to try other and more modern powders, or are you trying to stay in the "retro" neighborhood with that?
I've had OUTSTANDING results with LT-32 and 50-grain bullets. Good results with H322 and H4198 as well, and I think there are lots of choices that would be good.

I have a 8 lb jug of WC-844 which is military surplus powder. The company recommends using H335 data which makes me think that is what it is - looks just like it. So far everything I tried in the rifle shoots great including H4198, IMR4198 & H322. Seating depth seems to be the key factor for RF jacketed bullets. The trigger is a 3lb+ & crisp, but I believe it is giving me horizontal groups sometimes. So I'm putting load development on the back burner for now & finish my other plans, one of which I'm considering notching the tail of the receiver so a lighter 700 trigger can be used.

Great tune up on that old rifle and she is shooting the RF bullets very nicely.
The stock turned out looking great.

The brothers are Dave and Richard. Dave has the larger outfit with many employees in White City, Oregon. His older brother Richard is a master machinist and he has a one-man shop in Phoenix, Oregon. I have spent hours with both of them and they are very nice guys and devoted to swaging.

No worries sir. I have trouble remembering to tie my shoes, some days. The Corbin brothers were born engineers. Dave has the better head for business and Richard is the perfectionist.
