Has anybody been there? I'm within 149 miles and thinking of making the trip.

I made the trip to the Dillion factory store yesterday. We took our dogs to a rattlesnake avoidance class and it just so happened it was only 15 miles away.
Walking in, I was greeted right off...Wow, what a rarity. I told him I was looking for a few parts which he helped me with and then told him I just wanted to look around. They had all the presses set up to look at, pull the handle etc. After looking for a while I went back and asked the associate which press would be a good upgrade to my XL650. He said he personally liked the XL650 better than the XL750 and had two himself that he would never sell. Took me over to the XL750 and explained why he liked the XL650 better.
He showed me the 1100 with the added stations for swaging and not having to bump the handle forward to seat the primer, but also added that a caliber change on this press was $1000. Then he mentioned my XL650 had a lifetime warranty where as the XL1100 was I believe 1 year. Basically the 1100 is for high volume in your caliber of choice.
I learned the XL650 was the best choice for me. So then I told him I already had the parts accessory kit, but what other parts I should have on hand for the 650. He takes me to the counter opens the drawer and starts pulling out springs and all the moving parts on the press, puts them in a bag and says "here you go". FREE.
Walking out to the truck where the wife was waiting with the dogs I was grinning ear to ear on that proverbial "high" thinking about my choice of the XL650 and the support after the sale.

Red, that is a very cool experience. A good greeting,no trying to sell you on the latest and greatest and a supply of parts. If I were younger and still shot very much the progressive that I would buy is a Dillion. Used to enjoy there small magazines that came in the mail.

I think that's the way I'd go if I ever decided to load on a progressive for high-volume shooting. I've kicked it around some but I always back out.

Thanks for sharing, Red. I've got an under-used 550B that I really need to get broken in and would definitely love to make the trip to the Mothership for extra accoutrements. Sounds like it'd be very worthwhile.

Not surprised at all that you had such a good experience. I had some issues with a 2nd-hand 550B that I bought last year. I called and there was no answering service in Asia - just a regular old american that knew anything and everything you could possibly want to know about reloading and all of the Dillon presses. We talked for a good while, he made some suggestions, and mailed me an alignment tool for free. I used it just the way he said and it 100% fixed my issue. Now I just need more tool heads and dies so I can swap calibers instead of only loading for 45acp

They also had a XL750 set up with a bullet feeder, $519 I think. I almost bought one, but then I got to thinking, I put every round through a case gauge, by hand of course so I guess I'm not in that big of a hurry.
Like patriot said...I want all my calibers to have their own tool head too.
