Check your license. If it says HIP certified you are fine. If it says HIP required yes you will get a ticket.

Yes you need it, it is up to you to know what is going on, not the seller.

HIP= Harvest Information Program. Yes, you need it. It doesn't cost anything, so if you don't have it, get it before hunting any Migratory Game Birds or your get busted.

This is not the way to learn.....but two years ago I was at WALLYWORLD (walmart) to buy my super combo. The guy in front of me was steaming mad because the night before he was at that walmart getting his license and the guy that was doing the license forgot to ask those HIP questions. WELL the next day he went hunting and he got checked by a game warden and got a $150 (I think) ticket. So ever since then....I make sure they ask those HIP certification ?????s Needless to say, most of the wallyworld sports deparment employees are not hunters.

The HIP cerification process has changed this year. The option now needs to be checked on the computer just like it does for any other endoresment. Most retailers were not properly informed of the change and unless the person at the Walmart counter knew about the change, the most likely would not check the box. I am a Walmart manager and I discovered this problem over a month ago. I am sorry this happened to you, but ultimatley it is your responsibility to make sure you are certified.
