If it is going to be done wrong the first time, I might as well do it and not have paid anyone for it. I swear its impossible to find people that can do the job right the first time.

It never ceases to amaze me how people use social media to see if there is someone that can do something very simple for them. I usually think to myself, have you tried looking in a mirror?

Because I want to get it done right. And beat the system.

Same here. If its going to be half assed I'd rather keep the money and halfass it myself.

In most disciplines I have found that I can not get the quality of work that I expect at any price. Even when I provide the parts and leave very explicit directions they're still not followed through with and I have to go back and correct issues.

Previous owner of this house had to have a dam pool put in a couple of years ago. They were all excited to make sure we knew they'd just put in gutters and two rain barrels. Huh? First weekend we owned it there was a little 1/4" rain shower. This is when we realized the pool was, in actuality, a dam pool and the little patch of grass left in between the pool and the house becomes a swamp when the rain barrels fill up, which takes about 5 minutes. We get a land scape "architect" girl (A&M) to come quote us on putting in a gutter to a buried PVC drain around the pool and out into the yard. We had a whole bunch of other landscaping/sprinkler system alteration added, but this swamp was priority #1 and why we called her in the first place. 3 weeks later of them digging, messing, working, and they hadn't begun the PVC drain. Every time we asked it was gonna be done "that day" and "no problem." When she starts asking for final payment 'cause they're "finishing up", the downspout still hasn't been put in the PVC drain. When I point this out, she actually says, "Maybe we should just put the rain barrel back." I told her no, that they had all assured me it was "no problem." She said she'd ask her roofer contractor where the downspout could be purchased. (It's a common downspout, in almond.) I give her the small zig-zag portion to take with her to match. They get it. Last hour they're there, I look out and the "foreman" has installed the downspout, but he also re-intalled the zig-zag portion above it, so the downspout comes down, zig-zags out and sticks out into the downspout that's going into the drain. I run out where they'r loading up and explain the problem. When I look into the "foreman's" eyes, I finally realize, after talking to him for weeks, that a. he's faking understanding English and b., what he does understand linguistically, he lacks basic reasoning skills in reality, like a young child. I had to show them how to sawzall off one end of the 2nd length of downspout they'd bought and brought, understandably difficult and leaves a rough edge, but that they could flip the piece over and install the rough edge into the drain, where it wouldn't be seen. Incredible.

The drain from my utility room ties into the kitchen and runs about 55' to the master bath where it tees into the 3" line to the outlet. About every 6 to 7 years it clogs right at that tee. I have removed the clean out cap at utility room and run a drain pipe of it to the yard. When water comes out of that pipe I know there is a clog. Normally not a big deal. I just rent a 75' snake and I am done in about an hour. Last time the snake I rented broke at about 35'. I returned it and all they had was a 100' that was a piece of carp. After working on it for another 4 hours I gave up and was going to call a plumber. Neighbor came over to help me load the snake in the truck. We decided to give it one more try. What is normally an easy 1 man job for me turned into a 2 man job due to the Jerry rigged foot switch on the snake. We finally got it done.

Once a year you could use the product below. Go to the utility room, washer drain, or sink if you have it. Pour in about a pound of the crystals. Get super hot water from another location in the home and pour on to the crystals. Let sit for a minute. Then rinse with a ton of hot water. You shouldn't have any drain problems if done as maintenance. This is a great product and is safe for septic.
