I’m not a huge waterfowl guy but I hunt them in a few states a year. This year I did old Squaw in Saginaw Bay Michigan. Pretty wild ride really. The day before I got there it was sun shine slight breeze and they killed a 5 man in 2 hours. I arrive and the flood gates opened. Pouring rain that turned to freezing rain, high winds, waves 3 feet beating you to death but we managed a few and a bonus scoter before one of the guys got sea sick and we had to go back. The next day started out even more windy, we got blown into a sandbar captain had to get out and push us out another boat coming behind us did the same thing so we are both hung up at 5 AM pitch dark crashing waves wind at 20 but we got lose and the other boat turned back. As the day progressed the wind laid down, the sky cleared some and I finally got my swing down and we finished off a three man pretty quick. These things are fast, fly right on the water, rarely slow down and are the toughest birds by far I ever seen. All you serious waterfowl guys should do it. Hunting them in Michigan is a cheap sea duck hunt and we seen merganser, golden eye, bufflehead, and scoter out there also.

Cool deal, I've hunted them in Massachusetts and they were decoying perfectly, they would just come floating into the spread.

I've heard the great lakes gets alot of oldsquaws. I've had it on a list of places that interest me and maybe one day I'll get to hunt it.

Great trip up
