I've been waiting on some rain to broadcast seed my kill plot and don't see Anything on the forecast. Least there are good temps now. I'm really thinking of broadcasting and then mowing this saturday. Then I can reseed before a storm whenever that is...2wks..etc

Thoughts?

Kill plot is one you hunt in, food plots are just that, no hunting.

Well it's getting late in the season and don't want to disturb the area before the rut so I mowed and broadcasted on Sat. Now just praying for rain. Looks like some next week. I'll reseed in 2wks or so especially if there is a front coming.

I broadcasted again yesterday with the rain last night and rest of the week. Should hopefully get something to grow.

I planted oats about that same time. We had .25", several heavy dews, and maybe one other tiny rain. Yesterday there was the slightest green tint to the field. We got rain last night and this morning. I'm hoping for an inch or two. If so, it's gonna be crazy good in two weeks.

I never heard the term "kill plot" either. I hunt my "food plots". I also hunt my "kill feeders".

Mine are up now. I haven't been there in person but on camera its looking good for opener on November 11 in Arkansas.
Used a new spreader on my sXs and it did not do a very good job of evenly spreading the seed. Still, I'm happy with
what I am seeing.

Unless we get a substantial rain, I’ll skip it this year. I just got my first moisture in a long time a couple of days ago. 2.5 inches. Not enough sub soil moisture to plant anything.

I checked yesterday and I see some starting to sprout. Sadly we had 29-30 Degree nights the last two days. Hoping the frost didn't kill off everything. I might broadcast with winter wheat in a week or so. Thoughts on clover this late or just wait till spring?

Opening youth weekend in Arkansas. Plot looked better than I hoped. You can see the pea's mixed in with the oats.
Someone asked before and I prefer to make my plots long next to tree lines instead of big squares. This one is
185 yards long.

Nicely done Mr.T.
I’m sure your young hunter appreciates your fine work.
