This thread is 20 pages long on the TTF.. thought it would be interesting to see the responses here.
Quite surprised with how many stories have been posted there.
So, do you know a killer?

Had a guy that worked for me years ago that killed his MIL and her mother with a 12 gauge. He was looking for his estranged wife and they wouldn't tell him where she was. He got the death penalty and is worm dirt now.
5 days before that he took his wife hostage at gun point, the police talked him out. He was arrested, bailed out and went and bought a shotgun. Then went looking for his wife.

Don't hang around with those types.
Edit to add: Though I've never known anyone to have done such a thing, I have often wondered who might be standing by me when out in public. You never know when someone will just go off on you for no apparent reason. It's kind of scary when you think about it.

A neighbor on my street shot his kids, sister-in-law, and then himself a few years back. His wife came home to have lunch with their kids and found the scene….
My wife and her talked occasionally, and I waved and talked with him in passing by a few times. Definitely didn’t see that one coming.

Knew a guy growing up who was kind of a rougher case. Not a criminal by any stretch, more of a burnout lazy pothead. Had a younger brother who was extremely polite, good kid, strait laced and good in school. Graduated high school and joined the army. Was on leave with a buddy of his and his girlfriend and something happened, he ended up killing the buddy and barricaded him and his girlfriend inside the house, eventually committed suicide by cop.
Very strange situation
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

As a teen my house was in Highland Village and I knew a lot of other kids my age in Flower Mound, Lewisville, Argyle Double Oak Etc. Probably six to eight of them murdered people before their 21st birthday and all but one of them is in prison. The one that really stands out was a guy named Frank Perry. His dad was a doctor in Lewisville and his mother was an attorney, he was mixed black and Filipino. He was high one night and killed a fresh off the boat Nigerian when he robbed a 7-Eleven in Farmers Branch in 89 or 90. His parents were incredibly rich, bonded him out, and immediately sent him to the Philippines. He did not come back into the country until they had negotiated a 20-year sentence with the County prosecutor. I used to be able to find that conviction but it has been completely wiped off any records so I suspect he got it overturned at some point. I know that at one point he was in TDC but I don't know for how long and I saw him back out on the street not too long after he had shipped off to prison .He is now a doctor in the Philippines to the best of my knowledge.
Another one that really stands out was a guy that I knew in school named Mark Hildebrand but that may not be the exact spelling of his last name. He was back on leave from the Army and went out with his friends. They thought it would be funny to drop acid on him and he didn't really know what was happening. He got back to his girlfriend's house and got in some kind of argument with her and I believe he killed her with a hammer. Her little kid wouldn't quit crying so Mark drowned the kid in a bathtub. This was also in the late '80s. He wound up with two stacked 60 years sentences out of Denton County and I believe the murders were committed in an apartment off Highway 121 in Lewisville.

A few.
I worked for a certain customer alot that had a mechanic that caught his wife in the sack with another guy and killed both of them right then and there.
A guy I went to HS with killed his GF and then himself.
The above guys father killed a guy when we were in first grade.
Worked with another guy that moved to Tx from Ca that was In a biker gang out there. He had been in the joint for murder. He is back in Ca.
The guy above had a BIL that I worked with later, and he had been in Leavinworth for murder. I happened to see him changing coveralls after we finished a job and the prison tats were all over his torso. It was evident he was in the Airian Brotherhood. We fired him later, not sure of where he is now.
Knew a woman in the town where my wife is from that killed her BF, cut him up ans scattered him out over three Counties. She is doing her time.
I didnt put myself in the presence of these people voluntarily, just happened to work around them.

Glad I don’t know 6-8 murderers. One of them would likely have taken me out.

When I was a toddler, one of my father's best friends was arrested for serial rape and murder. They questioned him, but released him and sent him home where he ate the end of a 30-06. My mother was brought into the scene to identify his body.
Kid I knew in Jr High became a bookie and killed a debtor by hiding down the street with a 30-30 and shooting him through a window. Life in prison and as far as I know, still there.
One of my fellow lineman from Jr High and HS football became hooked on crack and murdered his girlfriend's infant because it kept crying. Story goes that he threw the baby into the hall and then went back to bed. He is also serving life.
On top of these, i have known maybe 6 or 7 people who have been murdered. My hometown is pretty notorious for a couple of murders that happened in the 1980s and I knew most of the players. Look up John Grisham's book about Ada, OK to start.

Okay this really doesn't count but it's still kind of creepy. I was born and was living at the time about 7 or 8 miles from John Wayne Gacy when he was committing all of those rapes/murders and burying the bodies in his crawlspace. Just a kid in the seventies...had no idea riding around in my bike everywhere....could have been any of my little buddies. I believe the murdered boy/casr that led to Gacys arrest and conviction was from my town. Still gives me the dang willies. So glad we moved to Mississippi when I was about 9 and learned my redneck skills

'Always heard you could get just manslaughter for that in Texas; "crime of passion." Probably just a myth. It's still murder but sudden passion has different sentencing guidelines. 5 to 99 years is the standard sentencing range and 2 to 20 for sudden passion.

I've known quite a few guys that have killed but are not murderers - military or ex military. Did know one guy that killed his wife's boyfriend - story goes he walked in on them coming home early from a stint offshore.
He only got 3 years.

I knew a guy in high school that was part of my friend's group. He killed a C store clerk while robbing the place. This was when we were in hs. He got away with it for 20 years. He found god after a while and confessed to the murder and got sent away.

I know many who have killed a human, but none were murderers. Some of those are good friends and a few are even brothers.

Did handyman work for a guy in Frisco who kidnapped his ex girlfriend, raped her then shot her. He was a cocky kinda guy with lots of money, lots of guns license for machine, fancy watches, fast cars and big trucks. He told me whenever he got a speeding ticket he'd just give it to his lawyer and it went away. His ways caught up with him.

Once upon a time I knew a fellow who was sergeant at arms for a prominent motorcycle “club” that was reputed to control the drug trade in Las Vegas. He had a rather “interesting” reputation, and eventually died of a drug overdose. As he had advanced colon cancer and was exceedingly familiar with drug use, you may draw your own conclusions.

There was a guy that hauled equipment for my dad that killed his x and her lover when he caught them together in the bed room while the kids were in the house, he got bailed out, had a trial a couple years later and found not guilty, a few years later he jackknifed his big rig after hitting a cow and burned to death. My wife’s niece had a baby with a thug, he killed the infant for crying, he’s doing life, me and my wife never even seen this pos thug.
