I’m ready to do some improvements at my place and wanted to see if any one could help me with ball park prices on the below items. Nothing super detailed just a rough estimate:

- survey 160 acres
- 1mile of 5 strand barb wire fence
- plumbing a new water well and solar pump with water tank
- grading a half mile dirt road
- installing a new front gate (nothing fancy)

I did it myself on a gate because lowest bid I got was $2,500.
Prices depends on where you are. However, I just put in a new front gate,"nothing fancy" at all, I'm 73 and did it myself and it cost me:
$129 for 12' gate with hardware at Tractor Supply
$80 for two 7"x 8' round post at local feed store
$27 for six bags of Sakrete
_______
$236

Had a 5 strand barb wire fence put up recently in Young county. Bids were in the 4 dollar a foot +or minus range. Depending on what kind of ground
(, sand ,rocky, etc.) you have will determine what several of those projects will cost.

Metes and bounds survey can cost $3500-$6000 depending on exactly what is done.

If your just wanting to stake out an existing property lines and don’t need a plat map or field notes it shouldn’t be more than about $2k

Barb wire fence anywhere from $3.50-$4.50/ft depending on location. 1 mile is 5280 feet.

Water well drilling depends on depth and solar unit set up/pump size. Range can vary so widely based on location I’m not gonna quote that. In our area it’s running $48/ft to drill and case, then add equipment and pump cost on top of that.

Grading is gonna run you about $750-$1200 to get the machine on site and then $150-$200/hr to operate it. I would figure 8 hours +/- to grade a half mile of road depending on soil type and road condition.

Basic gate installation, $1500-$3500 depending on what’s needed, material, welding, etc.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Thanks this is super helpful. Do you think a tractor with a bucket and box grader would be faster or just a good old fashioned Bob cat? I have a few bushes to knock down but not many and the field is relatively flat Sandy Loam and prairie grass.

Not sure, they were included in the price and attached to the gate when I bought it.
