Any of yall hunt in Houston county if so what's it looking like this year I just filled my feeder this past weekend, in past years I've seen some real nice eights and tens on the camera but never any during hunting hours. Any of yall have the same problem?

helomech posts pictures on here from time to time. If I'm remembering correctly, he's had the same problem as you in locating the bucks once the season opens - but he's definitely got pictures galore of them during the day time.

I've hunted Houston County for over 20 years and it's always been that way. I've seen opening days when it sounded like World War III. By the time December rolls around, you would swear the deer have gone underground.
I've had good success during the second half of the season by taking time off from work to hunt during the middle of the week. I've also seen a slight pickup later in December when does that missed breeding during the initial rut begin to come back into estrus.

It's really really dry, but I'm seeing a lot of deer and they are all looking healthy despite the conditions. Just waiting for November.....as far as not seeing deer during hunting hours, our place is like everywhere else in East Tx I guess. We see plenty of deer during the 1st month or so, after that they kinda disappear,(the bucks anyway) and the few that I do see late in the season are really spooky.

We saw a record amount of bucks for our place on opening weekend last year so I have pretty high hopes for this year. Like everyone else has said, the rut is great, then the hunting gets a little tough.

i hunt over near kennard, i am getting very few deer pics this year compared to last year, last year saw a lot of bucks even in december, what really concerns me this year will be the increased pressure with the month of november does days, i hope the deer do not go nocturnal after the first weekend,
i did see a lot of deer at 5am last weekend while heading over to houston county lake, lot of deer browsing on the side of the road east of crockett and hcl road

I did some jobs in Houston county during deer season and never saw one anywhere alive. They were a dime a dozen dead in the ditch between Crockett and Lovelady.

I have only lived here for 3 years, but the deer are improving dramatically. The other years I was there I never got pics of many bucks, but this year is different. Don't know if it is the protein feeder or what. I have high hopes for this year. On my place I don't notice a drop off with the progression of the season, mainly I think because I am on my property every day, and I think the deer are used to me being there. When the pressure of my neighbors moving around they seem to come on to my place. I have seen the biggest deer on my place at about 10am, at the end of December last year. Could not get a shot off, but I saw him.

I got them all ready to plant. Still at my dad's house, and have very limited internet. I am on a neighbors wireless right now, and it comes and goes. I want to click that video you just posted but it would take forever to download.

From my expriernce in this county the first year on a place is horrible but usually the years to follow it just gets better and better. I think it is because these deer do not like a lot of activity and require alot less pressure than some other areas. And with moving stands and feeders or setting them up it shuts them down. However some good deer for sure
