I'm not married to any brand. I taylor to my soil test and soil Ph then source what I can at the best price. My soil Ph is 7.7 and I'm low in P and K. So I'm using APF (American Plant Food) 13-13-13 with the Nitrogen source in that as Ammonium Sulfate(AMS), which is somewhat helping me fight my high Ph. I get it local for about $18.00 for 50lbs. Pretty sure Lone Star Feed/Fertilizer is a private label APF as APF does a lot of private label products. Lone Star has a ton of locations mostly East of I-45. Without a soil test I would run a 1-1-1 like 10-10-10,13-13-13 or a 3-1-2 like 15-5-10. Apf has a product called K8 and Lone Star's is called Super Turf and Russel Feed in the Ft. Worth area has similar product called Nutra grow. Those are all a 3-1-2 with added mirco nutrients. Those three I just mentioned would be a pretty solid choice for just about anyone to go with.

Gotcha, I’m waiting on the test results now so I’ll round up the goods as soon as I get those back. Hopefully it dries up enough I can run the Harley Rake over it before I lay the sod down but thats not looking to good right now hammer

Do a wait and see approach on the algae. With all this rain and humidity I would get down an app of Scotts DiseaseEx (Azoxystrobin) now. It's a granular and directions say to water it in application, which is true. but your new sod doesn't have a good root development into the ground yet for root uptake. But Azoxy is systemic and will absorb through the leaves and then work up and down the whole plant. I would go out and apply it first thing in the morning since we have been having a heavy morning dew and let it stick to the leaves.

Those Harley Rakes are awesome. Post up your test results when you get them. I would like to see them. You're knowledgeable and would like to discuss plans of action. up

This is my soil test result and the reason I’m running a triple 13 granular this year. My intentions were to blend and spray my own 3-1-2 mix. But with my low P and K #’s I want to get pounds on the ground this year. My K isn't too bad but it moves through the soil and used up somewhat quickly so I need to make sure to keep a decent rate of it applied. I use MLSN as my base. (Minimum Levels for Sustainable Nutrition) And you can see my soil Ph is very high which is common for NTX soils. That’s why I use Ammonium Sulfate vs Urea as my main Nitrogen source. I am able to get a good color response with the acidifying effect of the Ammonium, though it’s not enough to really lower my Ph where I would want it to be. I do spray a high iron/micro nutrient pack every two weeks for a extra color response. I target 1/2lb to 5/8lb of N per month. And I prefer to do more applications at a lower rate then overloading the soil with a lot of fertilizer all at once. I fertilize every two weeks at a rate of 2lbs of triple 13 per 1000sq feet which gives me 1/4lb of NPK per application. I have 5-6 friends and neighbors I’m working with on getting their lawns in order. I know like them, most don’t want to get out there and do stuff in their lawn every two weeks. So I have them on the first weekend of every month schedule. No issues putting down a 1/2lb of NPK the first weekend of the month. They are getting fantastic results and it’s only May. June and July and their lawns will be bussin.

Put out 100# of triple 13 a couple of weeks ago then caught over a foot & a half of rain. First chance to mow it was today and I almost ran over this guy. No soil test Derek, it's my orchard/wedge practice area plus the armadillos ruin it when it rains.

Dallisgrass is killing my lawn, I think I might need to re-sod. Sucks.

What do y'all use to kill crab grass? I have a decent amount of bermuda in my yard but a few areas with crabgrass and one area that is dirt from me filing in some low spots around my patio. I have a pallet of bermuda coming if it ever rains but do not know what to do about the crab grass.

Dallas grass dose not run. It grows in clumps. You can spot treat it or use a garden hoe depending on the amount. You can afford to take your time. It's not going anywhere.

On bermuda Celsius WG or Quinclorac with a added MSO surfactant. Read your labels. Know it, love it, live it. And make sure it's crab and not Dallis. And temps are getting a bit warm for MSO surfactant.

Bill is correct. Dallis is a perennial and that mound will come back every year and the seed heads will drop a ton of seed making new mounds. Crab is a annual and only comes back from seeds. There are some good spray and pray companies that will spray a mix of Celsius and Revolver to control it. IDK what they charge but sure it's not cheap as those products are costly. There are also non approved for residential lawns product I won't get into. Cheapest option it to get 41% glyphosate from tractor supply for $20.00 add a couple table spoons of Ammonium Sulfate per gallon and spot spray it. Fertilizer properly and stay on a good pre emergent schedule and your turf will fill in the dead spots and the pre will prevent the new Dallis seeds from taking off.

This lot in my subdivision is for sale. This is one time when hast really does make waste. They are dandelions. Mow them now and they will come right back up. Mow them after they go to seed and see them next spring.

With all the rain I couldn’t keep up with the growth being too muddy to mow. So 15 days ago I decided to scalp it to get my height under control.

Second mowing of the new sod. It’s rooted in pretty well. Going to start the fertilizing regiment next week.

I have a friend with 3 boys. Not a one of them has ever, or will do any yard work. I don’t understand.

As usual, clear as mud for this time of day. I'll refrain from commenting on the "teenage body" part. eek2
