I'm tired of dealing with all of my decoys getting tangled up. I want some memory free line. What are your recommendations?

What makes you think memory free line is going to keep them from getting tangled?

I use a Texas Rig on mine that is Mono line. Keep 1 Dozen on every clip. I hang them untied when not in use, but when using them and traveling with them I tie them as to try to keep the lines from getting twisted. The memory in them from being tied though seems to cause them to spiral and tangle every time though.

Tie a knot in a cheap piece of string around all the lines, slide your small loop(5/8”?) down as low as possible and tie to one decoy keel. Keeps your decoys from shuffling when carrying them and usually only need a simple knot that’s easy to untie.

3” long “Geartie”, find them at Home Depot for about $1 each or buy 40 for about $15 on eBay. Hang 12-15 decoys from a carabiner, lift them off the water and then wrap the tie about 3 times around the lines as close to the decoys as you can. Been working for me since the Gearties came out !

I Texas rig my decoys and use vinyl coated wire rope for the line. I am able to tie the line in a knot and leave it that way all offseason, and the line never shows any memory at all. Vinyl coated wire rope is the only true 100% memory free option I have found, and now that I made the rigs I use I wouldn't use anything else. The only drawback is that it is more expensive than standard decoy line. There is a company that makes complete Texas rigs with wire rope: Lifetime Decoys Texas Rigs. You can make your own for about half the price if you are willing to put in a little time.

I'm tired of dealing with all of my decoys getting tangled up. I want some memory free line. What are your recommendations? What pound mono you using? I use 400lb and have decoys that way for 4 years now...no issues. But I can say also that not all 'knots' are the same. My buddies tie my Tx rigs up wrong all the time and I have to correct them. There are ways to tie a loop without getting the line so knotted up.

Lifetime Decoy makes coated cable rigs. That what I run on all of my floaters. They will last more seasons than the decoys will.

Lifetime rigs are the only way to go. Nothing else comes close. Period.
