We hear so many negative stories about social media but this one has a happy ending:

My boyfriend introduced me to quail hunting a few years ago. The first time we went was a bust... We hunted over borrowed dogs, mostly setters and they were useless bootlickers. I wasn't impressed with the hunting but I love a good walk outside so I was not completely turned off. He had an older Drahthaar but no pointers at the time and he got two Elhew bred puppies from Yellow Rose early the following year as the quail numbers had finally come back to huntable levels. One of the puppies didn't work out so he did some trading and we finally had two dogs to hunt.

One day behind good dogs and I was hooked. I got my first pointer Clara, a granddaughter of Elhew Fibber McGee, last year and I think she is going to make a great wild bird dog. Of course, to have a good solid pack of dogs capable of hunting like we want to I needed to get another so the search began.

I sent a deposit to Pine Hill Kennels but for one reason or another I never was at the right place in line on the right litter so I decided to expand my search. One day, for no particular reason, I searched the hashtag #Elhew on instagram and came across this picture:

I immediately messaged the guy, Ryan, who is an avid grouse hunter and NSTRA competitor in Michigan and asked if they were ever going to repeat the breeding. Luck would have it he said they had been talking about it. I told him to put me on the list for a liver female with a crazy look in her eyes. Here's mom and dad:

Dam is a direct dauther of Elhew Distinction and sire is a son of Blazes Black Magic.

2018 hasn't been the best or easiest year but someone was smiling on me in June when the litter was born. I got my liver female and even though she was Ryan's wife's pick, they let me have her. Everyone meet Lori Darlin'
She's on top here with the pretty tail:

Finally home in TX!

Balls to the wall, all the time...

I feel like I've really got something special so I may just have to adventure into the world of NSTRA with this girl.

I'm so thankful to Ryan and Lisa at Octane Pointers for breeding my dream puppy. Also I was so fortunate that there was a local man named Dale who happened to be at a trial with Ryan up north and brought my little girl to TX for me. Never underestimate the power of social media!

Well articulated.

The name reminds me of a woman in a gook I once read, maybe read it twice. The Book was Lonesome Dove.

They are both named after Lonesom Dove... remember, Clara was his other love who got away.

I've got a couple of critters named Gus and Woodrow.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

A new puppy will make you feel like a little kid on Christmas day.
She looks like tons on fun.

Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden.
Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.
