Curious as to what you guys think about Hornadys new .300 PRC and where it fits into the spectrum of available options? Just saw a press release on it and some other ammunition options today on their website.

The parent case is the 375 Ruger, which holds about 75-85 grains of powder, depending on the bullet and powder used. So, it will be a little hotter than a 300 Win Mag. It will be very close to the 30 Nosler round. The 30 Nosler is a 35 degree shoulder, where the 300 PRC is a 30 degree shoulder. Both are similar in case size and shape. It will make a great magnum round for the heavier 200+ grain bullets.

Sounds like it is pretty similar to many other 300 mag offerings already.

My Horizon 300 PRC / 6.5 PRC switch barrel hopefully will be ready to head elk hunting by Friday. If I may have to shoot factory ammo because no brass is available yet.... not sure I have ever shot a big game animal with factory ammo
