I’m curious to see what people would pay for a lifetime membership to join a destination recreational facility that has a 1000 yard range as well as multiple handgun ranges. Will offer other family friendly amenities as well. Would be within a 2 hour drive from the DFW Metroplex.

would pay for a lifetime membership Lifetime... not a chance. Annual membership, sure! With the volatility of a gun range these days, especially a long range range, it's not something a gun range could guarantee. An annual membership, sure. But someone would be taking a major risk for a "lifetime" membership. IMO, it would be foolish on both parties to offer or purchase a "lifetime" membership on a brand new range.

I would love to have a place close to me, but...I wouldn't pay for a lifetime anywhere, and 2 hours drive isn't really close either.

Lifetime Membership? Not so much based on comments from Chad. Daily use or annual would be better options to consider.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

Lifetime is out for me for the above mentioned reasons. I see you’re from Paris. Is that the area in question?

Annual membership was something I considered, and still do. However, I think it is fair to your members to tell them that if they pay in January and for some reason you shut down in September, you owe them 3 months worth of money back.
There is also the inevitable day you need to mow, and someone wants to shoot, and you have to tell them no. That could cause some conflict, with an annual membership paid.
I use a daily rate, and guys get with me with as much notice as possible. Sometimes it is a week, sometimes it is a day, and there have been some that contact me that morning asking for the go, no-go. I keep the place ready, but there are some times I have to say no due to maintenance. Though I try to do that when I know no one will be coming out, sometimes mother nature does not cooperate.
Also, I recommend a qualifying round. If they say they're competent to 1000 yards they need to show you. I'm sure you know the reasons. And that involves meeting the party there, at a scheduled time. You've got to ask what equipment they're bringing to go to 1k. You know what can, and what cannot.

It would help to customize the membership packages. Annual unlimited use, annual with limited use (4 times per month would work perfect for guys that only shoot on weekends), with varying prices.
Haha yea I polished that thing for hours.

It can take 1-2 to cross dfw depending on points I think people would be interested but it’s a function of how secure it is. I think Grand Prairie club has it right. You buy a share in the club then pay dues. If you leave you can sale your share. I think you are thinking people will pay 10k+ but those are people looking for a country club imo. If you asked for people to pay 2k for a share then a due people would be interested but then I have to measure the person and business case. I think 2-3 ranges have been shut down or restricted in Texas due to Houses moving in.

Lifetime, no way Annual, possibly Fossil Pointe is 40 minutes from me and offers a daily rate. It would have to be closer or better in some way. For a guy like me that only gets to shoot LR about once a month, pay by the day is preferred.

I would love to see a 1000 yd range open up within driving distance of Dallas. That said I wouldn't do a lifetime membership, in fact I got burned out of my annual membership when Lone Star Gun Club (600 yd) shut down.

I bought a 10-trip punch card to a local range that opened up a few years ago. After my 3rd visit, they shut down. I won't buy any sort of range membership again, unless possibly it was a very established range and a very low price.
There are already some 1,000 yard ranges in the area. Jason's goes to 800. Jacob's Plain goes to 1,100. I'm not sure anything else would be worth any type of premium, since those are both reasonably affordable options. Maybe on a different side of the metroplex there would be more interest, but I just can't see it up towards the NE side of Dallas.

Just post your closings well in advance, our local rifle range does and annual members have little issues with it. Have set days for maintenance and make sure to post them at the range. Just make sure members know you may have unexpected closings if warranted, but try to keep them to a minimum. Write up a good contract for membership that spells it all out. Annual memberships up here only with day rates available on sight in days before hunting seasons and with members. Family and single memberships is what we have available at our range.

We're very lucky I can long range shoot on my neighbor's place out to 1000 yards. Now if it would just stop raining and dry out we can get back to ringing some steel.

I believe Poetry Shooting Club has a 700 yrd range. I would check the Rockwall Shooting Club's website.

If you decide to move forward, the NRA has an online range development program that is very good on design safety, environmental and legal compliance. One point they drive home is a range will not generate enough income to carry itself without something extra such as a shop and/or classes.

Hello Gents, I am a member of a range right here in Waxahachie, Texas and you can shoot out to 1200 yards. The range is called ETTS. I've been a member for about 7 or 8 months and love it!
