Got off the lease this year just not enough time to do it right with life and sports etc... Anyways looking for a buck hunt for my son, somewhere central/south Texas where when the feeder goes off he will see deer. Doesn’t have to be a monster. A cull, management system size...if he shot something 120-135 class he would be tickled to death! Where do I look/ Start? I know nothing is guaranteed but I know over a weekend in south/central Texas we should see something he could get a shot on. What ya got???

Better get him on a doe hunt or a spike hunt, that way he has something to look forward to as he gets older

crying
Grow thicker skin crybaby. Guy wants a 120-135” deer for HIS kid not a spike or a doe. What’s wrong with that?

My son’s first ever deer was a 145” drop tine and he is still up before me ready to go no matter what.

You should grow up, sir. And yes, I do consider it trolling. You are the one already on the WOS, not me.

thin skinned fella. Sorry for offending you when you tried to tell a man how to raise his child. Have a good day.

I will usually have a few management 8 points available after Thanksgiving.

PM me if you would like some pics. I charge $1250 for management and I have a few culls for $500.

Thanks.

Probably not going to get a Buck or at Least a big one but you are welcome to try Texas Youth Hunting Program. It is a great program and there are a bunch of hunts in Central Texas. http://www.tyhp.org/

Thank You

If it was that would be awesome!! Never understood the thinking that new hunters should start from the bottom. If the kid loves hunting, a giant first deer isn’t going to make them all of a sudden stop hunting. When I take my kids and wife hunting and fishing I want them to get a crack at the best I can get them on.

After hunting season I chase trophy catfish and take the family usually. When a really big one hits I hand the rod to whoever hasn’t caught a big one. Would never reel down on what I thought was a 50+ and say, “nah kid this ones too big for you, you should start with 5 lbers.” My boys have landed a couple over 50 and 1 over 60 by themselves and I’m very proud of that. Wife and daughter are still trying to break 50 and hopefully do this winter. Any of them would drop what they’re doing and go today if I loaded the boat. They aren’t going to say no dad I caught that 63lber last trip I’m good. roflmao

I think it depends on the kid. My kid loves the outdoors and goes with me all the time. Even when he was little and knew he wasn't going to pull the trigger. There was value in teaching him management and not letting him start on top. Compare him to a kid who rarely gets opportunities and letting him shoot a big buck just might be the thing that hooks him for life. There are definitely pros and cons for both avenues.

If that were the case, I would be 64 years old and never have gotten my first one. I just hope it isn't my last one.

Sooo, you’re hunting for a doe with your kid and a 160 walls out, you take HIS gun away and shoot it yourself?!?! That’s terrible, I wouldn’t be able to sleep that night.

Still going after the best for mine. I would much rather my kids or wife kill a great buck before me. I’ve killed great deer already, and not sure they’d be able to do it without my help. That’s just me I guess.
