Ya'll been watching Last Alaskans? They use the wind, nothing else.

Honestly I think you're better off using a cover scent than a scent killer. Spray some Buck Bomb, put out some doe estrus, or a doe pee drip outside your stand....I think that works better than anything and could actually attract a buck.

Lethal is the best that I have seen. It is made by the same company that makes products to kill odors generated by a decaying corpse and nursing homes. This is not a joke....
Adios,
Gary

I use fresh cedar and have been known to step in a cow pie from time to time when I'm rattling. Another thing I've used in the past is to drip a little fox urine on the down wind side. Fox urine serves two purposes, one as a cover scent and the other is deer tend to drop their guard if a fox is around. A fox is very alert and will bark if another predator shows up, also they pose no danger to the deer.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I hear ya, like "hunting" shows that sell deer view mirrors, scent products, cough mufflers and deer cleaning kits for 27 minutes then shoot a 170" buck as it walks to a feeder inside a high fence; neither of which are mentioned and are out of camera view.

I hunt the wind, however, 'Hunters specialties' scent killer works. I can sneak a smoke away from the Wife, then spray my hands and tobacco smell is gone. It works.

I Feed Indian Corn. The deer love it and all the colors make them stay at the feeder longer.

I wash all my hunting clothes with socks and underwear in baking soda and hang out till completely dry then bag them up in an "unscented" garbage bag. Shoes/boots will be washed in baking soda and hung out to dry also. I bathe in the "hunters soap" and be sure to towel dry with a scent free towel.
When I get to my stand, which over looks a corn feeder and protein pellet feeder, I will have a container of pre-soaked deer pellets that have started to sour and mold. I will put that up in the stand with me to block my scent. Works every time!

Well, I prefer the Under Armour, Dead Down Wind or Hunter's Specialties.
I don't know if they work or not but if I can give myself a 1% improvement then that few dollars was well spent.

On another note, I hunt out of state every yr so my time hunting these areas is limited and hunting the wind isn't always an option so you have to be prepared to do something plus deer don't follow a script. My spot here in TX, deer come from every direction.

What I can tell you is, I am very meticulous in my scent control and I have killed several really good deer with a bow that were down wind. Did it work? Were they dumb? Were they worried about my scent if they smelled it? Who knows?

If you want the very best product to cover your scent that does not have an offensive odor, then you should use the Cedar Oil Scent from Burnham Brothers. Winston and Murry came up with this concoction back in the 60's and knowledgeable bowhunters have used it for many, many years.
We call it Cedar Oil but that is just part of the product, cedar oil doesn't have a very strong odor so we need to give it a boost. I apply directly to my clothes and will it will leave a little oily spot, don't have to worry about reapplying every day as long as I wear the same clothes. Many guys apply a little to their hunting clothes and then leave them in a trash bag. I just had an older bowhunter pick up 24 bottles.
We have used it successfully from South Texas for deer to Colorado for elk.
Adios,
Gary

Pigmies roll in elephant dung before hunting. You might want to give it a try then tell the rest of us how it works.

It also works real well for chapped lips too. It doesn't exactly cure but it sure keeps you from licking them.

I think this is one of those debates that will never really end...because let's be honest - it's impossible to REALLY KNOW whether the stuff works or not. Personally, I put on a couple of wafers in the off chance that it does help. I can tell you that "I" sure the hell don't smell anything other than those damn wafers LOL But whether you use them or not, you should certainly take advantage of the wind when possible.

And by wafers I mean these:
