I really hunt the wind, rub myself with live cedar and use it to brush in pop up sets. But I also use Dead Down Wind and it has not let me down yet

Scent killing products are a farce, plain and simple. Scent Blocker has already been sued at least once for faulty advertising. As Always read 2 hunt said, playing the wind is the ticket.

I'll 2nd the rubbing of fresh cedar limbs and I also keep all my bow hunting camo inside a cedar chest. You'll need to really like the smell of cedar because it's very strong when stored this way.

Nose Jammer. They sell it at Walmart now. It's not so much a scent eliminator as it is a disruption to a deer's olfactory senses. If you doubt it, spray some on a paper towel and take a big whiff (actually, I wouldn't- LOL) I'll spray it on the roof of a pop-up blind or at @ 6ft up on the tree / leaves if I'm in a tree stand. Buddy that guides up in Kansas turned me onto this 2 years ago. Solid product, IMO. It does help if you take other precautions such as using an unscented laundry detergent for your clothing. Nothing beats a quick shower with unscented soap before you head out to hunt, if that's an option. I've always liked the Hunter Specialties Fresh Earth spray if you're looking for something to spray down with.

Not a spray, but a good wind is very effective when you put yourself in the right place.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

For you guys who believe in this scent killing technology.......
Take a dump in the middle of your living room, spray it down with scent killer, ozonics, whatever.......see what happens.

I don't know how it works with feces but then again I don't shart myself when I hunt. I've sprayed some less than desirable smelling garments with it before and it certainly made a difference. If you don't believe it helps, don't buy it. Invest that whopping $5 expense into your 401k.

Guys who don't use any of those extra measures probably have little to no time in tree stands. It makes a difference when the conditions become less than optimal. Some believe, some do not, as for me I choose the extra steps for a successful hunt.

He's done extensive testing on the scentlok type stuff and has proven it makes very little, if any difference. I'll take that $5 and buy a can of Copenhagen, thank you very much.

You dismiss the scent altering products but not the warnings of certified healthcare professionals on the impacts from using lip tobacco? I shut that stuff down 5 years ago after realizing I was ignoring the obvious. Wish I would have wised up earlier.

I will just take your word for it. Our little 15 pound house dog went and rolled in some fresh buffalo poop, he was white before the incident. I was told it is an instinct to cover their scent. It worked, good.

I am bias now as I shot 2 Bucks last season (1 in TX and 1 in MO) and didn’t bring any scent killler or shower in the stuff. Let my clothes stay outside and played the wind to my advantage. But I did just witness my Brother In Law purchase a good $1000+ worth of Scent-Lok and all the BS they had to go with it today. Really enjoyed helping him spend his money. He even purchased the vehicle Ozone plug in and he hunts out of a box blind. 🤷‍♂️

It worked, good. Went camping at the lake years ago and my buddies dog rolled all in a dead fish to cover her scent. It probably worked for her against other predators and her prey. I can assure you it will get you tied to a tree 50 yards away for 3 days.

Honestly can't say whether the stuff works or not because I've never tried it. I have never felt that sticking to the basics of respecting a deer's nose by honoring the wind and thermals has limited my success or those that came before me. A manufacturer or distributor's financial compensation could likely change my approach. For the right money I would soak my clothes and bathe in the stuff. Today's hunting shows, where the overriding purpose of the host, is to become a frontman for a myriad of hunting products and gear, have sold hunters on more than one questionable product. The best of the hosts can be pretty convincing......

There are few hunting shows where I would even trust the person or what they sell simply based on the poor shots, poor age guesses, lack of tracking in the dark, etc, etc, so I take what I see on TV with a grain of salt. If I need a hunting video fix, I much prefer the youtube videos of hunters and their lack of sale pitches.
Don't mind watching a good fishing show every once in a while though

Honestly I think you're better off using a cover scent than a scent killer. Spray some Buck Bomb, put out some doe estrus, or a doe pee drip outside your stand....I think that works better than anything and could actually attract a buck.

Lethal is the best that I have seen. It is made by the same company that makes products to kill odors generated by a decaying corpse and nursing homes. This is not a joke.... Adios, Gary

I use fresh cedar and have been known to step in a cow pie from time to time when I'm rattling. Another thing I've used in the past is to drip a little fox urine on the down wind side. Fox urine serves two purposes, one as a cover scent and the other is deer tend to drop their guard if a fox is around. A fox is very alert and will bark if another predator shows up, also they pose no danger to the deer.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I hear ya, like "hunting" shows that sell deer view mirrors, scent products, cough mufflers and deer cleaning kits for 27 minutes then shoot a 170" buck as it walks to a feeder inside a high fence; neither of which are mentioned and are out of camera view.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I hunt the wind, however, 'Hunters specialties' scent killer works. I can sneak a smoke away from the Wife, then spray my hands and tobacco smell is gone. It works.

I wash all my hunting clothes with socks and underwear in baking soda and hang out till completely dry then bag them up in an "unscented" garbage bag. Shoes/boots will be washed in baking soda and hung out to dry also. I bathe in the "hunters soap" and be sure to towel dry with a scent free towel. When I get to my stand, which over looks a corn feeder and protein pellet feeder, I will have a container of pre-soaked deer pellets that have started to sour and mold. I will put that up in the stand with me to block my scent. Works every time!

Well, I prefer the Under Armour, Dead Down Wind or Hunter's Specialties. I don't know if they work or not but if I can give myself a 1% improvement then that few dollars was well spent.
On another note, I hunt out of state every yr so my time hunting these areas is limited and hunting the wind isn't always an option so you have to be prepared to do something plus deer don't follow a script. My spot here in TX, deer come from every direction.
What I can tell you is, I am very meticulous in my scent control and I have killed several really good deer with a bow that were down wind. Did it work? Were they dumb? Were they worried about my scent if they smelled it? Who knows?
I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.

If you want the very best product to cover your scent that does not have an offensive odor, then you should use the Cedar Oil Scent from Burnham Brothers. Winston and Murry came up with this concoction back in the 60's and knowledgeable bowhunters have used it for many, many years. We call it Cedar Oil but that is just part of the product, cedar oil doesn't have a very strong odor so we need to give it a boost. I apply directly to my clothes and will it will leave a little oily spot, don't have to worry about reapplying every day as long as I wear the same clothes. Many guys apply a little to their hunting clothes and then leave them in a trash bag. I just had an older bowhunter pick up 24 bottles. We have used it successfully from South Texas for deer to Colorado for elk. Adios, Gary

Pigmies roll in elephant dung before hunting. You might want to give it a try then tell the rest of us how it works.

axe sage and cedarwood body wash. I don't know if it works for hunting 4 legged deer but two legged deer love it.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

It also works real well for chapped lips too. It doesn't exactly cure but it sure keeps you from licking them.

I think this is one of those debates that will never really end...because let's be honest - it's impossible to REALLY KNOW whether the stuff works or not. Personally, I put on a couple of wafers in the off chance that it does help. I can tell you that "I" sure the hell don't smell anything other than those damn wafers LOL But whether you use them or not, you should certainly take advantage of the wind when possible. And by wafers I mean these: https://www.amazon.com/Hunters-Specialti...afers&psc=1
