My daughter was drawn for this hunt, we will specifically bee targeting Nilgai and unless a whitetail just presents something impossible to pass, we probably wont shoot one. Anyone ever hunted here that would be willing to provide any insight?

Got your PM and see the answer to one question I had, your East Lake. Good.
I was drawn for the East Lake General 11-16-18 hunt! Good to go back!

I can’t give a lot of insight but I have talked to some locals about the area. The word is there are some really good whitetails in the area. Nilgai are thicker the closer you get to the laguna Madre generally but there are Nilgai in the area. I have hunted just south of there and plan on joining the lease next year. The land manager told me about his son hunting there. You may come across a whitetail you can’t pass up. Also be prepared for a Nilgai. If you haven’t hunted one there extremely tough to bring down and a good bull pushes 500 pounds.
