Late last night I dropped a sow at least 250 lbs. in her tracks at about 140 yds. As I started to take off the hind legs, I noticed a lump in the middle of her shoulder. I made a cut and pulled out the remainder of a 123 SST bullet I shoot out of my 6.5 Grendel. It penetrated completely through both shoulders and came to rest just under the skin on the one side. I weighed it today, and it still weighed 95.8 grains...which I didn't think was too bad after driving through both shoulders.

Yeah, that looks good. Somewhere around 225, I find they have trouble getting through both sides, but sometimes they still do on the bigger hogs.

SST is an excellent Grendel bullet.

I always find it interesting to see recovered bullets. Looks like that SST is working well for you.

I don't see a lot of these bullets exiting, but I like to shoot them from middle of the shoulder and forward. They sure seem to drop them right on the spot though. Must be doing some good damage to the CNS. I shot one deer last year right through the top of the neck with a Creedmore round using the same 123 SST. The processor mentioned to me how much damage to the surrounding tissue was done in that neck area.

I love this bullet, and so do a lot of other hunters. You're right about CNS damage.

Definitely great bullets, designed for maximum expansion. Those are all I use for my Grendel.

I agree. The SST has accounted for many dead hogs in my 12.5" Grendel.

The night before last I dropped a boar about 225 lbs. with one shot to the front shoulder again. This time it actually exited the other shoulder leaving about a 1" hole that sort of looked like a slice through the skin. It broke the leg on the off side before it exited. The shock value must be pretty good with these bullets as well. The boar went right down and didn't move for a few minutes. I watched him and his ear started twitching and then a rear leg started kicking some. I just gave him a second "Grendel" and all lights out.
