Anybody have a good method of camouflaging their trail cams? I went to my lease the other day to get my feeders going and put batteries and new cards in my cameras. My cameras from both stands were gone. Ran over to my bro-in-law's stand, about 200 yds up and over a hill, and his was gone too. I don't trust the simple cable locks to keep a thief from cutting them. Though it's a shame that I may have to, I'm considering buying extra cameras to point at my cameras. Just saying that sounds retarded and pisses me off. I got no use for a thief!

What county are you hunting?

My only suggestion would be cellular cams. The. You could have a pic of who stole them.

I have the cable locks on my cellular cameras with the locked metal box covers. At least if they want to steal them they'll have to work for it a little.

Just had ours taken too, and they tore up the feeder. Thankfully I just get them used on eBay but it is a pain.

Been on my lease 7 years and have had 5 stolen. All cable locked, in metal box, lag screwed into a tree. They had to work for them. So frustrating, I put boards with nails in strategic places until my lawyer friend talked me down...

We had an ongoing issue of camera cards getting swiped, probably 10-12 of them from one feeder. So we finally wised up and hid a camera in a tree to catch the thief. A woodpecker destroyed that camera, and we never missed another card after that. confused2

My SIL had one stolen where he had hunted for over 6 years. We put some in at tree looking onto the camera, but have not seen anyone on the cards. He hunts the back of our lease with the landowner's land behind him that is leased. Those hunters have been there 15+ years so we don't suspect them. Who knows, but it does suck when it happens. This is the reason I never leave valuable equipment in a stand. I used to hunt with guys that would leave a gun in the stand. Not me I remember my rifle is my friend and pushups. I never leave my rifle in a stand. We are in Hamilton Co.

dang, I hate that. I've got 6 cams out right now. So far so good. However, I do put dummy (old not worky no more cameras)out at gates and feeders that can easily be seen and try to better hide my good trail cams. but I know is really is just matter of time before POS gets me too.

It would be a pain and you would have to carry an extension ladder, but if you have tall trees around you could try mounting them up high, and a little more concealed. Preferably on a limb that the wind wouldn't blow all the time.

I have 6 Bushnell wireless cellular cams I'll sell you for a great deal. 4 have metal lock boxes you lag bolt into a tree. The idea is when someone goes to try and steal them, they have their picture taken as they walk up and begin stealing thecamera. That will happen and they won't know it. They were $300 each around a year ago when I bought them, plus accessories, locks etc which I also have. You can have them all for $800. I will guarantee they work although we would need to first make sure you get cellular service where you want to use them. I lost my lease and am not using them.

Must be a common practice in East Texas..... that's where it happened. Got my new cams in last week, but now I need to buy more cams to watch over the feeder cams.

Put a broken trail cam up easily visable. Put up a good camera and point it at the broken one. They won't figure you have 2 out on one spot. I cam mine by taping off the lens covers, spray camera with spray adhesive and apply real moss I bought from hobby lobbie. Good luck.

Sounds like an awesome deal! Too bad other obligations prevent spending that much on cameras. Thanks for the offer!

Similar to my plan for this weekend. I don't have any old cams to use but I am going to do the camo job with natural foliage from the area around the camera. Going to cover it with masking tape and then spray or use caulk for the sticks and leaves to stick to. That way if the camera ever stops working during the warranty period, I can peel everything off and return it.

For anybody that has had the same issue as me and looking for an idea, I did a camo job on my new cameras. Got the idea from YouTube. I bought a small breaker box that my camera would fit in, and of course cut a hole in the cover to allow the LEDs, lens, and sensors to see out. I painted them dark brown and peeled off some bark from some pine tress. Then hit up my wife for her hot glue gun and with her assistance, we hot glued the bark to the outside of the boxes. Then I drilled holes for the cable to run thru to lock the box to the tree and a hole for a big padlock. I may get some plastic leaves to super glue to the cable to make it look like a vine. I also bought some cheaper cams to point towards my camouflaged cameras to hopefully catch a glimpse of anybody that might try to steal these. The last pic is the one I worry that they'll easily see due to light reflecting off of the LED and lens.

Looking good. I've been thinking of doing the same with my lock boxes, its the cable that is camouflaging delima. I have boxes lag screwed into tree, cable locked through box & camera and then padlock on cover. At least they will have to work a little harder to take them.

Yeah, the feeders are. But, he's up and over a hill. There was a lot of timber between us until they clear cut it last year. He usually doesnt hunt that stand when we're both there.

They make some cameras with a gps theft chip now that give its location, they will even notify you if the cameras is moving position, there are also aftermarket devices you can install for those that don't have this yet.

What could possibly go wrong with this device? Might be an issue if someone does not know the difference between a blank and a real 12 Gauge shell.

I wish you could mount that inside the camera with an ink-pack in the end of the cartridge such that if the camera is pulled from the tree, the cartridge fires the black ink pack in the face of whoever is removing it, and on their clothes, and all over anything else they might have on their person at the time. Maybe that will deter the thieving bastards from putting their hands on what does not belong to them.

I bet if we all got creative we could come up with ways to really put a damper on sticky-finger dip-[censored]..

I would have a memory card stolen every now and then over several years at one particular stand. I put all my old or broken trail cameras up at random places around that stand. Only one or two are working cameras. I no longer have my cards stolen. Perhaps they got bored opening cameras to find no batteries or cards in them. I have got pictures of what I assume are hog doggers on the working ones, but always on the move, so too blurry or dark to identify.

If y’all rig up an anti personnel device, you’ll certainly find out who the perp is as you fill out a very large check paying off a lost law suit.

2 years ago a couple of buddies and I went to Idaho hunting. One of the guys who was letting us hunt his land asked if I would remove the cam and bear box from a particular setup the bears weren't hitting anymore.
