ya'll still in?

Pistol (and PCC) Shooters,

There will be an Action Pistol Caliber Match this Saturday, August 18th 2018.

When driving into the range, and leaving the range after the match, please observe the posted range speed limit (7mph).

Please note the range rules regarding guests at the club. Guests are allowed to shoot the match, but must stay with the match. Before and after the match, guests are not allowed to be unaccompanied on club property. If a member will specifically sponsor the guest, the guest may use the ranges after the match. The sponsoring member must remain with the guest at all times and is responsible for the actions of the guest.

Hats with forward facing brims and glasses must be worn starting at 8am sharp (shotgun fields open at 8am, pistol ranges are in a known shot fall area).

Wear appropriate shoes for safety and support, no flip-flops allowed.

Online signup and squadding is open at:
https://practiscore.com/ntsa-pistol-8-18-18/register

Please take a moment to sign up and select a squad. This saves us a lot of time and aggravation on the morning of the match. People who are signed up and squadded before the match will have their spot established on that squad. Anyone that has not done so will be filled in on squads with open spots. If you have a group that wants to shoot together, but there are not enough open spots on any one squad, you will likely be split up across squads.

If the online signup gives you any trouble, please email me (reply to this email is fine) and I will help you with it, or can sign you up. If you want me to sign you up, please give me your name, email address, division, power factor, and your squad preference (if any).

A few notes:

Shooters may only shoot one division/gun in the match in order to make sure we can finish at a reasonable time. This is especially important during the summer months when the heat gets brutal in the afternoons, but we always need to finish the match in a timely fashion to open the ranges to casual shooters.

We will incorporate power factor in this match. To calculate power factor, multiply bullet weight times velocity and divide the result by 1000 [(bullet wgt. X velocity)/1000]. It takes 165 or higher to make Major power. Note that PCC division is scored Minor power regardless of calculated PF. Power factor affects the target points scored (handled in Practiscore). Major scores A/B/C/D hits as 5/4/4/2 points and Minor scores A/B/C/D hits as 5/3/3/1.

PCC division (Pistol Caliber Carbine): Shoot your carbine chambered in any standard pistol caliber (9mm/.38 minimum) in the pistol match. Carbines shall be brought to the line bagged, start position is standing with the stock of the carbine touching the shooters belt (or as directed by the stage briefing). Use any sight system, load to magazine capacity (no magazine couplers allowed). PCC division is scored Minor power only.

No-shoot scoring: Each hit on a no-shoot target counts. If a shooter hits one particular no-shoot target three times, that shooter is assessed three no-shoot hits (-10 points each). Don't shoot the no-shoots, you can get to ZERO points for a stage in a hurry!

Pass-through hits: When a no-shoot is touching a shoot target, pass-throughs do not count. An exception is when a bullet breaks the perforation (is partially in the scoring area) of both a no-shoot and a shoot target, which then counts as both a scoring hit and a hit-no-shoot. Free standing targets of any sort get all holes scored.

Upon arrival at the match for sign-in you must complete the following:

1. Club Match Roster
2. Rifle/Pistol Sign-in sheet. Do not put down an amount paid. We will do this when we collect and distribute score sheets.
3. Waiver (if you are a guest and it is your first time shooting at NTSA).

All shooters MUST be present for the safety briefing – NO EXCEPTIONS.

Stage building begins at or just after 7am., any help there is greatly appreciated.
Sign-up Ends: 8:30
Safety Briefing: 8:30
Start Time: Immediately following the safety briefing.

The match will consist of 5 stages, and should require ~150 rounds of ammo (extra is better than too little). You should have at least 4 magazines for your pistol or PCC (or at least 5 speed loaders for revolvers). The minimum round count for any stage will not exceed 32 rounds, but 8-round capacity shooters may want an extra magazine or two for pickup-shots or in case of malfunction.

We should to be through by 12:30 pm.

Just a reminder to park such that you leave Pistol Bays 2 & 3 (West most bays) open for casual shooters.

Shooters will be divided into the following divisions:
8-round capacity (1911 in 45acp typically)
10-round capacity
Optic (any scope, red-dot, or laser sight), 10 round capacity
Unlimited (load it up to full, use an optic or not)
Revolver (load to capacity)
PCC (pistol caliber carbine, any sights, any capacity)

As always I appreciate the help with scoring, taping and picking up brass as well as those who come out early to assist with setup.

I'll be there, just really hope all my stuff comes in before the match. Gun will be here tomorrow, but mag carriers and holster I don't know about. If it all comes in I'll be shooting my new SA RO Elite Target .45, if not I'll be shooting my G19 from concealment with a damn mag in my pocket LOL. Either way I'm going.

I just registered, I'm in Squad 4 by myself. Looks like I'm the only one shooting 8rd single stack LOL. Looks like I'll get first in my division for sure clap

There seems to be a LOT of Pistol Caliber Carbines.

Meh I know I sucked it up. Wasnt ready for that at all. Gun was new and shooting way low from the factory. Reloads need work too. Range rules kind of made it hard, my thumb isnt really long enough to hit the mag release and I have to turn the gun up towards the sky a little but they kept yelling at me so I had to completely change the way I've been practicing to reload. You always have a game plan until that first miss and it all goes to [censored] after that. I'm just glad I went out and did it, I'll be back. Got to see and harass Princess and meet Spanky as well.

For yalls viewing pleasure and amusement.

They were not clear on that stage at all. You had to shoot left handed on first steel, right handed on second steel, and "freestyle" on third steel. The left and right were supposed to be supported but not and actual grip on the gun. Of course after I had already gone everyone pretty much gripped the gun exactly like they normally would just left handed. Our RO wasnt clear at all on that one. He was shooting the match with a PCC and it didnt matter to him.

On the last stage he was trying to load a mag in his carbine and kept his finger on the trigger the entire time. We called out trigger and he continued to do it.

I've never shot a pistol left handed in my life a lot different than shooting rifle left handed.

I actually just contacted the guy I sold my G34 to and getting it back tomorrow. Think single stack was probably the hardest division to jump into. Stage design seemed to be geared more towards higher round count. There was always bad breaks to reload when I should have already been moving.

So... was that being pawned off as a USPSA match?

If so, why were they remotely concerned about the muzzle pointing over the berm??
