It would be if it had American origins, had picked up an American/English caliber designation somewhere along the way, or been championed by the American shooting press. Fine round that punches above its weight. Europeans have been using it in Africa as a “do it (almost) all” caliber since it came on the scene in the early 20th century.

I bought mine for Africa/Nilgai after seeing one in action. I agree it performs better than one would expect and it does so with very manageable recoil.

I have used both the 358 and the 35 Whelen, finding them excellent hunting rounds. You can't beat the blood trails they get but generally tracking practice is pretty short lived. I like the 250 gr. Speer and the 250 gr. Hornady RN pushed to a mild 2300 fps from my Whelen.

Just have the one - 358 Win. Thumps only on one end. But, it thumps 'em hard.

Pay it forward - Kids are the future.

Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.

Yes most of the rounds mentioned are not the speediest.
They are slow enough If you plan to shoot them at Long range you need to find a Ballistic application that that corrects for Global Warming too.
