Any suggestions for what to plant in the panhandle. Is there a certain brand of seed that works well?
God is deep but he is not complicated.

Wheat and oats works well. Maybe 70-30 wheat vs oats in combination.

Feed oats are a lot cheaper than seed oats. Make sure they're not rolled or steamed.

Wheat, it's what all the farmers there plant and where all the deer are in those fields. Hard to compete with anything different. And you need to put your order in now as all the feedstores and John at Lott's ran out early last year!

What Erath said, wheat is more cold tolerant, but I think deer prefer oats if they stem later than wheat (stay tender), but they will hit the wheat if thats what there is. Also more wheat as he said up there since the propensity of freeze damage is higher, but some oats wont hurt anything and whole feed oats are cheap.
