I have access to about a 25 acre field near Adamsville on the River opening day weekend. How is Dove Hunting in the area and about when do they typically fly through the area? Is late September too late?

I own a place between Adamsville and Lometa. I see almost no dove. Even around my stock tanks. Being able to hunt the river area may be a different story but at my place it does not hold much. BUT, I see wood ducks every year on my creek (offshoot of Simms creek). I would look into duck hunting the river if you can. I have seen everything from woodies to cinny teal on my place. If you are up there shoot me a pm. come over and have a beer or six.

You never can tell what the dove will do around here depends mainly on the weather as anywhere else.

Thanks for the input. I will see how it is when the season opens. Would probably help if the river had some water in it.

I just got 5 inches last week. My creek was running 4 feet deep for a while. I'm betting the lampasas has plenty of water for the time being.
