So I always heard rumors my sweet lil Granny was carrying but never did I see the gun, until it was passed down to me when Papa passed away. Taking it apart, it’s in great shape but I’d like to polish all the friction points and smooth it up a bit.

It’s a cheap-o gun and I know it. I’ll never get rid of it though. The little sucker just slips right in the pocket so easy! I’ll still keep the 238 tho. It’s just a .22LR, but you like someone in the right spot up close with it, it’ll dern sure do damage or just stop them.

Questions:
1) these fairly reliable? I haven’t shot it yet
2) any known issues or fixes that y’all know of that I should adress?

Nor reliable.
The biggest known issue is that it is a Jennings pistol and may blow up in your hand, if it will fire at all.
Basically a $50 paper weight.

I would put it in a memory box. It will always have sentimental value but I wouldn’t bet a Diet Coke on it cycling or hitting wall in a room if it did.

I bought one of those one time, think I paid about $75 for it. It would shoot “occasionally”. I sold it for about what I gave for it. It’s worthless as a carry gun but the sentimental value is worth more than the pistol.

I got 3 jennings J22's. Fluff and buff interior of the slide polish feed ramp etc. Shooting it at the range a lot will smooth it out also. I can hit dinner plate at 7 yards mostly.
Try different ammo. CCI minimags work best in mine. You have to keep it cleaned and oiled to make it work. There's a bryco Jimenez forum for everything Saturday night special related and YouTube videos too. I carry one once in a blue moon. Again it probably belongs on a key chain but it also works as a get the F away from me gun too.

I have a couple of them and they are game finishers where the distances close and if it fails to fire I have time to fix. They are not accurate and not reliable.

I'm a Front Sight guy. I took a JA-Nine (Jimenez Arms 9mm Luger) and shot a four-day course with it without issue. Also owned a 25, 32, and 380 Auto. Killed a large boar hog with the 380 while walking a deer census line.

Thumbs up for the Bryco-Jennings-Jimenez Arms Forum. I have not participated in the last couple of years, but enjoy reading the posts. They are a great group of gun owners. I've been a member for a long time.

I should add that I did crack the frame on the JA-9 after a couple of thousand rounds. JA replaced it without issue, quickly, and at no cost to me.

I own a lot of firearms and they went bang and hit what I was shooting at. I didn't have a problem with them. I also had both Bryco and Jennings pistols; JAs are current production. I don't have them anymore but it simply was a matter of making room for others.

This x1000. Don’t bother messing with it. It’ll never be a good gun regardless of how much effort you put in. Grandma is probably lucky she never had to use it.
