Looking at one of these rather than an AR-9....Will be in a pistol with a brace. Pros/cons of each? Any opinions from those who have shot them or own them?

Sig mags are 3x cost of CZ mags- no experience with either outside of that.
I think CMMG figured out the whole last round bolt lock issue and has an AR pattern rifle that takes glock mags if that was your hold back on the AR-9.

I don’t like the grip angle or trigger of the Scorpion. When I wanted to buy one, there want any upgrades. The Sig is in the TOP of my list but budget vs use doesn’t justify the price. I think for $550 the PSA 9mm that accepts Glock mags will fit my bill.

I have a CZ Scorpion GEN2 with a side folder brace and it is awesome. All I did was change the grip out. Can't wait for my octane 45K to get here to go on this baby. Have seen some videos and they sound amazing. Carry mine in a small sling pack with custom cut foam. 20 rounder in the gun to keep size down and 2 30 rounders in another pocket on the bag. Lots of fire power in a little package and no one would ever know what I was carrying in my little laptop back pack. Like Duckhunter said mags are 1/3rd the cost. There is also a pretty big aftermarket for the Scorpion. Disclaimer: I have absolutely no experience with the MPX.

If you are going for small, Masterpiece Arms 30 DMG is worth a look. Takes glock mags, can take an arm brace. I know, its a Masterpiece Arms. But I have heard good things.

To clarify my above post, I shot a 16 inch evo and didnt really like the safety. Shot an MPX suppressed and didnt like gas blow back in face. And the main thing I dislike about regular ar pistols is the length if you dont spend like $200 on a LAW folder, and then it cant shoot folded.

Safety is a big complaint for the EVO, the change in grip fixed this for me. If you still dont like it they make after market safeties that are easily changed.

I'm gonna hold out and see where the PSA5 (MP5 clone) lands price wise. Should be out in 2019. Been wanting a pistol caliber SBR for a while.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

The CMMG Guard is lighter, cheaper, and just as smooth as the MPX. The Scorpion the least expensive and a great gun but it isn’t as smooth shooting as the others and the trigger isn’t as nice. My default answer is but them all - i shoot the Guard more often that the others.

Great video, BCJ. Honestly was just looking for something different than an AR style. I have a AR9 pistol that doesn't shoot very reliably...it takes the stick mags which could be the issue. The MP5 clone by PSA is interesting, but I don't really like the looks of the charging handle and placement.
Kyle, that Scorpion and carry case is pretty sweet. How does it shoot? From what I've read it's not quite as smooth as the MPX or Guard and recoils a little more, but in a 9mm how much difference can it honestly be?
I know the barrel length comes into play...what do you guys think is an optimal barrel length for one of these? Seems like they come in 4.5, 7, 10...

I haven't ever shot any of the others to compare it to, but the recoil pulse in the scorpion is similar to an AK recoil pulse. It kind of surprised me when I first shot jf because it recoiled more than I was expecting but like you said it's a 9mm it still isnt bad. Once I got used to it, it shot great. Like has been mentioned the the trigger isnt the greatest but then again most factory triggers aren't. There is aftermarket triggers for it though. I was shooting on a steel dueling tree and wearing it out from about 20 yards away.
I've taken it hog hunting but still have yet to find a hog out in the daylight to take with it though lol.
