Goal for this hunting season? A certain species, a band, your first limit, hunt more than last year etcetera.

Got a new pup. I'll be focused on her training and handling, which means taking my time... not necessarily concerned with numbers.

I have never limited out on dove in one hunt. I have had 14 twice, but not 15! I would love to.

Go on a woodcock hunt. Heck, I don't even need to be hunting. I'd just like to watch some good dogs work, get a few tips before getting into it, talk about dogs, etc.

Kill the first dove I shoot at. I've got a 9 year streak going and trying to make it 10. Probably just jinxed myself...

My goal is for my 10 year old Mudbuddy to make it another season, these dang motors are getting expensive, not looking forward to replacing it and not expecting to anytime soon.

And maybe shooting a duck or two every once in a while, lol.

I'm picking up my new 20ft duck boat next week and I guess my goal is to where that sumbit out. I've shot 15 limits of dove each the last 2 seasons...like to shoot just as many this year. Hunt a couple new lakes for duck this season but the usual ones are fine if thats where they happen to be. I'm excited for deer but just from late oct thru late nov...after that it REALLY duck season.

I hunt with a guy that can shoot 15 times and bag 15 birds, it is amazing to see. I would love to just do a 1 for 2.

Enjoy opening weekend of dove season with a rapidly aging father. I've made a tradition of bringing from out of state for this for the last 20 years. Not sure if he's going to physically be able to make it for this one, and future years looks rather bleak. All good things come to an end, but it will be hard to see the sun rise on September 1st with out him there.

I hope to come up with a few new excuses for the lack of birds.
Too hot, too much ice, not enough wind, too much wind, moon phase, DU, not enough face paint, Obama, and countless others..
I’m sure I’ll think of something

My top goal is to get my first banded duck but I don't expect to get this done. I've never seen one in my area in person so the chances are slim but a guy can dream lol!! Besides that the goal is just to try and stay on the ducks and hit limits like last year North Texas has the opportunity for some cool mixed bags so its always fun to see whats gonna fly in.

My first duck hunt and first ever duck I ever shot was a banded Red Head. I shot at a duck on the first volly and missed. Next volly I shot a duck, and the dog brought in a banded red head. My customer at the time was floored. He was excited and mad at the same time. He couldn't believe it.

I didn't dove hunt last year for the first time in about as long as I can remember. I already have a opening day hunt scheduled this year and am hoping to bring my 7 yr old son on his first dove hunt. We tried last year in October but no birds so he just shot his BB gun and had a blast doing that.

I got into dove shooting a few years ago. I call it shooting because you aren't really hunting for the game, they fly by and you shoot. I really like these dove shoots, lots of action, a challenging target, the doves are easy to clean and they taste great. BUT...I haven't gotten my 15 yet.

Good dove opening weekend with family, food, and of course adult beverages after the hunts. Good start to hunting season.

I just hope the dove show up this year in Young county. We always have a big party opening weekend in Fisher county and slaughter them. I’m just hoping for some good hunts close to home after that. I even got on Puddins lease with a bunch of my quail hunting buddies because the action was so slow at my house last year. Dove season is the only time I miss living in the Sandhills.

Shoot more sandhill cranes. Did,nt get one last season. Also, have some quality duck hunts. Been hunting a large club on the mid-coast prairie for a while and it,s been a struggle getting even 1/2 limits. Joined smaller, I hope better managed, leases this season and am expecting much better results.

Fiance is due for our first child on November 28th. Here's to hoping that babe stays in the oven as long as possible. I imagine it'll be an early and short season for me. Looking forward to all the memories that will follow though!

Agree. My son is 10 and I think he’s ready. He really wants to get out there and chase them. Duck hunting used to be a big part of my life, then the kids came and priorities changed. I’ve killed plenty in my lifetime... now it’s more about showing my son how awesome it is!

Goal for this season is to go more and learn more. I have always done more deer hunting because of time issues with work. I will be working 7 on 7 off when the season comes around. So going to put more effort into it and even try a little public hunting. Have a flat bottom now so going to get more supplies slowly and try to find people with experience to go with.

my number one goal this year is to see some of you rookies start hunting more public, anyone can walk away with a strap full of ducks on private.

I'm always looking forward to good numbers and a band, but this year I really want a stud wood duck to mount.

The 'easiest' hunts I have ever had were on public....just sayin.

Good to know....I guess I got confused when I assumed the term 'public' referred to all 'public' hunting land.

Good to know....I guess I got confused when I assumed the term 'public' referred to all 'public' hunting land.

you are absolutely correct, its public and you smacked em, but thats kinda like an Astros fan getting real fired up about beating the Orioles, you know what I mean?

PS: I like shooting redheads and springs at the coast

Attention rickym, this is not a troll post, just a good hearted fun type of post

Also guided on public takes away too. But not if they carry your purse for you.

The 'easiest' hunts I have ever had were on public....just sayin.

Was that a guided hunt?

And if they can shoot just one duck on that upper N.W. arm on RayBob they really got some bragging rights... elmer .

No question my #1 goal. To cherish every moment. I hunt with 4 other guys. We have done so for over 30 years now. We are all getting older. Not to old to do what we need to be successful but we range from 53-67. Our days of being able to go are numbered. How many more opening weekend camps will we be together? 10? 5? We are not promised our next breath, so I will cherish opening of dove season, our opening duck season camp and every other trip this year.

That don't count either, that is too easy early teal season just north of lone oak rd, and easy walk in spots. You can smack teal all day long, and there is a walmart on 35, you can pick up some tags on the way!

Chit I been hunting ducks for 4 years now without teal tags....I guess I better not push my luck any longer and bite the bullet and buy them this year.

My goals are to limit out on dove for the first time in one hunt. I also want to get some ducks on a DIY hunt on one of the public lakes. Me and my buddy Have a lot to learn but looking fwd to it. Its gonna be a challenge around here. Have to gear up and get some dekes. Words of wisdom and encouragement appreciated!

Adult late onset hunter. Why did I wait so long to get started?

I haven't hunted anything the last 2 years so I'm looking forward to just getting out there. Already got plans to hunt opening day dove season and one weekend for a special deer hunt. Any more will be a bonus and I plan on it!

Kill a black duck without tearing it up and put it on the wall in the bubba room.

My goal is just to get to go. I couldn't give a rats hind end about killing anything. I just want the time to go.

Go more than twice.

Let the blackjacks pass because their nasty. Ok, maybe one. Dogs like'em.

Convince Treebass there are no spiders in a duck blind, so he'll go duck hunting again.

Start a good thread on Blackcloud for Deckhand. It makes his day.

Get on SallySue's pheasant hunt during the split.

My number 1 is for my boy to enjoy hunting this year. He killed his first doe, and first buck last year so, even if he doesn't get a deer, I want him to learn and grow, and enjoy.

I will hunt less. A lot less in some cases.

Probably only 2 or 3 dove hunts.
I'm planning only 3 or 4 quail outings.
No pheasant for the first time in many years.

I will be doing a lot of pup training at the farm this fall. I'm really looking forward to that stuff.

These days, I'm more inclined to take it easier and let the birds go.
