I feel the need to have a different rifle so i am going to get rid of one of my .257's. It is a Weatherby Vanguard Sporter Series 2.....obviously in .257 WBY Mag

Less than 1.5 boxes of ammo through it. The only flaws i csm find is a couple small marks on the barrel from where it rubbed while in the safe.

Only trades I am interested in would be for a wood stocked (not a fan of synthetics) chambered in .264 win mag or a 7mm rem mag...Ö.maybe a 300 win mag Willing to trade rifle/scope for rifle/scope or simply rifle for rifle

Located in Baytown but do travel to the Lampasas area fairly regularly
All in value is about $1050-$1100

I am trying to upload pics but I guess I am not smart enough.....I can text pics to you if you are interested

Lol, I knew it was a long long long shot. Midway has ammo for $40 a box. Should give em a look, sounds like youíre getting screwed wherever you buy it.

Yes......yes you can buy that $40 ammo. It comes in really handy if you like wounding and tracking deer for days.
That ammo simply does not hold together at the velocities the .257 mag puts out. They WILL fragment upon impact and get next to zero penetration.
You need a bonded bullet if you are shooting less than 150-175 yards. After that, the cheapo ammo will be slowed down enough to perform. Under those yardages you'll need a premium bonded bullet like Nosler Accubond. Berger VLD's do okay as do Swift Sirrocco's and Noslee Partition's.
Those premium bullets run you approximately $70-$90 per box

I saw those expensive boxes and I totally believe you. You have a great great gun and itís priced fair. I didnít realize ammo was actually $80 a box.
