Finally ready to bite the bullet and get a suppressor. I use my .308 for hogs, 30-06 for deer and 300 Win Mag for Mulie/Elk. I actually use my bow on everything except pigs most of the time. Where I hunt pigs, it is so thick and thorny that it makes it impossible to recover in the brush, thus head/neck shots are essential.

I am wanting a can that I can switch between all three bolt action rifles. I know eventually I will be buying cans for each, but not right now.

Anyone else do this? What suppressor would you recommend? TIA

Crux makes some great cans with a very good QD system.

I can also recommend Dead Air. I prefer the Sandman Ti Direct thread. That is what I use on my bolt and single shot hunting rifles.

Here’s my 2 cents

I went the QD system first time and bought one for 338 lapua and have used it down to 223. It is heavy compared to what is out there now. To me know weight is a big issue. Not so much for lapua but I have a Christensen 300 wm and that heavy suppressor on the end of it don’t make sense.

QD - here’s my opinion. I am waiting on 2 suppressors right from rebel and I think they weight around 9 or 11 ounces. Big difference from my QD YHM. When I bought it I also bought a rim fire direct thread.

I will not buy another QD. The QD muzzle break is expensive and hasn’t gone down in a couple of years. The QD I have is very heavy.

I love suppressors and most of the time want them whenever I hunt or just shooting at the lease. Most of the time it changes your POI. They usually shoot lower.

The 2 I have coming from rebel are direct thread. One is the sos hunter and other is the 6.5. I am playing the waiting game now.

I will continue to use the QD YHM on the lapua but rebel runs great deals from time to time and will be real tempted if they do for a 338.

For me it’s all about weight on the end of that barrel. I have a buddy that has a couple of rebels suppressors and loves them.

I guess what I am saying is if I had to do it all over again I would go direct thread.

On a guns and gear show the other day they had both and had split them open and actually showed there are more baffles in the direct connect then the QD which they say makes it quitter.

Now remember just my 2 cents and I am not an expert. I am sure someone will have something to say about what I said but I don’t do the debate thing.

I do the same with pigs that you do. It’s a head shot every time. No tracking with that.

I run direct thread cans on all of my rifles/pistols. I have 2 Thunder Beast 30-P1 and a (Mack Brothers) Dakota Silencer Varminter 3.0 30 caliber suppressors. All of them are Titanium suppressors,and are pretty lite weight - 19 and 17 ounces.

Although the Thunder Beast suppressors are excellent,my favorite is the Mack Brothers. I use them on everything from 223 to 300 WM.

Recommend direct thread titanium. Never understood why you would need a QD mount. It doesn't take that long to screw on the end of the barrel. I like the Thunderbeast Ultra. Light and doesn't change your POI if you use their brake.

Makes it easier to swap between 2 rifles. Less threads and a brake/mount that rides the rifle all the time which prevents the need to keep up with (and remove/replace each time) a thread protector.

Brake does the same thing for less money.

Are you talking about brakes that are also mounts? Or just a regular brake?

Threaded brake like I use for my thunderbeast.

I do this exact same thing for my bolt rifles. I use SilencerCo's Harvester 30 cal can which should cover all three calibers that you mentioned. I know some guys use it on their ARs too even if it is not recommended.

I am leaning toward the SilencerCo Harvester 300 direct thread. Also going to get one for the 22 mag for coon control at the feeders.

I have brakes right now and they are awesome for controlling recoil and barrel climb. But, I hunt with my daughter now and tired of buying new batteries for our ear muffs all the time. I want to be able to talk with her in the blind and on our range without using ear muffs.

I would buy 2 of the 300's, but I bet by the time I get the first one, a better can will be on the market.

Barrel thread on a 7.62 and 5.56 are not the same. QD adapter allows for quick interchange between calibers.

This is what I use on my 7WSM and my 6.5cm and so far I've been very fond of it.

are you able to shoot both without hearing protection?

so does the threaded brake that I have on my 6.8, .556, and 308. same concept as your quick detach just cheaper and more reliable; allows for almost as quick interchange between calibers, lol

No idea which one you have so I can't comment. My Ti QD works pretty well for my two calibers and has been very reliable (don't pay retail either). I'm not a war fighter so I don't need to have the latest and greatest high speed, low drag gear. I guess you need to feel like your set up is far superior than others. Good luck to ya!

I have the threaded Thunderbeast brake made to mount their suppressors. Not superior at all. I view them as more reliable because of suppressors that have been launched from QDs. Like you, I'm not a war fighter either and see no need to have to switch suppressors at high speed. That's why I went this route instead.

If that was directed at me, then yes. Only time I wear hearing protection is when I'm at the range with other shooters that don't have a can.

Ok, I see what you are saying now. Their brake is similar to the QD mounts, just not Q.

TBAC ultra 7. Get the brake attach. Cal Zant at Precision Rifle Blog told me you get a more solid mount than with the direct thread.
