If was on a place with my buddies and we wanted to cook up some dove poppers in the field between the morning and evening hunt, what would be the best way to keep the evidence of our limit so we don't get a ticket?

Or should we just grill burgers instead? food

Adult late onset hunter. Why did I wait so long to get started?

Your poop? What evidence is needed and why would you get a ticket? You can eat all you want in the field. It's what you shoot that matters.

^^^^ Illegal daily bag limit unless the 15 in the am were finally processed and consumed (as I do not think you stomach contents would be considered possession) before going out in the pm. On opening day the possession limit = daily bag limit of 15 migratory birds. Oh and you can't hunt more than 3 days and possess more than total of 3x daily bag limit (45) of migratory birds. Check the TPWD possession rule

You do know BradyBuck was kidding right?

The OP, kill 15 birds a day and never have more than 45 on ya. Want to hunt a 4th day, eat some.

I think your question is, simple example, you and your friends shoot exactly 5 birds each in the morning. You and your freinds eat all the birds for lunch. In the afternoon, you and your friends shoot 10 birds each, getting your daily limit. Then a GW pulls up, sees what you shot, ask how many you shot in the morning, you say 5, he says where are they, you say you ate them... And I guess you are asking if he wants to see evidence of the morning shoot, it is a good question I do not know, I personally take pictures, and if GW does not like that he can F himself and write me a ticket.

As long as you have under your limit you're OK. If he shows up at camp in the evening and you say that you got your limit but have a lot less in your possession (cuz you ate some of 'em), that isn't a crime. The burden of proof is on him. If he wants to dig through your cleaned pile and count carcasses that's up to him.

If I am ever checked by game warden's,,, as they pull up, I approach their truck and offer to gladly testify against the other hunters in exchange for immunity for myself.

Why not just keep the remains when you clean them. Then if the GW asks you could show him the remains of the birds you ate. At the very least he could count the heads and be satisfied.

The best way not to get a ticket is NOT to keep any evidence... just sayin'

Definitely the best approach if you're trying to cover up some kind of wrong doing. But the OP seems more concerned with ensuring that the GW believes that they didn't shoot more than their limit even though some were consumed.

If he can write one, you can bet he will.

keep the heads...
or only grill collards..
or throw a winged carcass of everything in a cold cooler
evening of opening day it's normal for us to have a stew-pot of over 100 birds and dumplings going..
been doing that for yrs...
so yall wanna grill in the field later in the day and still be OK w/GW?
first day you can keep 15.. save heads..he can compare heads w. reserved birds...
I cant see a prob, there...
but keep each hunters game separate...
glory, tailgate pics are frowned on acct individual bage limits...
the shooting a group limit is not allowed...
there's always the guy who wants "to help you limit"
verboten..
I dang near fought a guy during teal season, once..
one other thing...
"lost" brds count towards your limit..
tough for GW to prove unless he's watching...
this did happen on our property once, tho, that I remember..
hunters limited on a hot field early, some tried to hide extras and some just kept shooting w/o retrieving...
many citations were issued...
those guys never came back.

The warden has to have evidence that you are over the limit to prove his case. It’s not up to you to prove that you didn’t go over the limit. It’s up to the state to prove that you did.

I'd probably keep a wing off each one I ate, believe that would help a warden tell if they were white wing or mourning doves

Had a GW check us out once in Throckmorton, he politely asked how many birds each of us had and then he checked all the Semi-autos with a rubber plug to make sure we could only load 3 shells max and wished us luck.
