What axle ratio do you have? I'm considering a Power Wagon but think it can mes with 4.10s and don't see 15-17 mpg with those gears.

my brother has a 2014 2500 Dodge 2wd gas engine that he pulls his 14+k lb 5th wheel with. He put air bags on the rear due to the load but it pulls it fine, mileage sucks though

I wouldn't want to tow it far or every day or even every month but it sounds more like the OP has a 5th wheel parked at a campground that might not even move every year, doesn't sound like a great reason to buy a 3/4 ton and he could save 5 mpg with a 1/2er.

Define "Tow"

Did you pull it doing 60-65 mph or were you on the shoulder doing 45?

I was stuck behind a person pulling a medium size bumper pull with a ford explorer the other day. We never hit more than 50 mph. IMO that is not "towing"

Well keep in mind speed limits weren't the same in 1994 as they are today, but 60-65 on the hwy which for most of the time we had that trucks was the speed limit.

Used to have 2005 HD GMC Duramax that pulled a 40 foot race car trailer up and down mountain roads Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Rarely did it ever even down shift it pulled so well. It also never over heated once. I have a 2013 now and would not trade it for anything else.

I pull a, 7500lb 27ft travel trailer ever year to Gulf Shores from NW Arkansas with a 1/2 ton Hemi Ram, 3.92 gear, 8 speed auto. Never, never, never a lack of power. Stability could be better but I keep her T 65 and get 8.5mpg. These newer 1/2 tons are extremely capable.

I want first thank everyone for your input. This is for the ram people on the ram forums there saying the 2500 trucks are all drifting to the right and ram does not have a fix for it. Some say you can get after market parts to fix it anyone have that problem and how did you get it fixed.
