I think the MilQuad that is on the 3-9X at 9X would be perfect for a SFP hunting scope.
If you gave me a 6X fixed with the reticle above, an elevation turret from your SS 1-4X (MIL) and a capped windage turret, you would create a perfect big game hunting scope. Yes with HD and illumination

If that one had an illuminated reticle, I think nobody would ever buy a Trijicon again. I know I wouldn't. It's just too damn hard to see the reticle on 3x, at low light. Add a dark background, and it's impossible.
Haha yea I polished that thing for hours.

OKay, so you want a SWFA SS 3-9x42, Second Focal Plane illuminated Mil-Quad, with capped turrets? 2.5-10X is just fine. It's developed, it's light, it just needs a different reticle. A reticle yall already have. I can think of two rifles I have that would each get one. Or was it 3 rifles?

Everyone has their laundry wish list but if you just added a second focal plane MilQuad that mirrors the 3-9 on 9x and made the adjustments match the reticle, it would give a lightweight option for people that like MilQuad. An MOA with Duplex and a MIL with MilQuad at less than 10 ounces woud give a lightweight scope for everyone.

Is the eye relief spec correct? It says 2.5” at 10x which would exclude use with most hunting rounds.

This day in age there is no need for a duplex reticle anymore. Everything should come with a BDC Reticle of some sort at least

As I have said before, I would replace ALL of my hunting scopes if this were an option - I like it that much... Under 12x or so, I could care less about FFP or SFP - I'm going to be maxed out shooting longer range. I have ultimate faith in my SWFAs. They are a little chunky, but the reliability is worth the extra ounces.

Sounds like you already connected the dots. For those that care on THF, the scope is very light. At first I wanted to call it cheap but it's an ultralight so it's going to feel like a toy. The glass is good for my eyes but I'm used to $300-$500 scopes. The power ring is very easy to turn. The proportions of the scope is great for a carbine. The finish is rough like the non HD SS scopes. It looks a little out of place on a scope of this type. The knobs have a very loud audible click. The eyer relief is short. I think it will work on most short actions, the front ring will likely be very close to the bell. Probable be best on a picatinny rail. I can't see it working on a long action with a standard ring set up but that is just my opinion. First pic I tried it with the Ruger rings. You can see how far back I had to mount it and I still needed to move it back a touch for proper eye relief at 10X. Second pic, I decided to mount the Picatinny rail Ruger provided and some Weaver low rings. This worked much better. Gave me more room and it was easier to get a proper cheek weld. I'll take it to the range next week and see how it does. I expect it will be reliable and track well.

I should also mention the turrets will reset to zero with the provided allen wrench. You could always take the cap off or leave the cap off and dial using MOA data if that is preferable. I would expect it would be as or more durable as a CDS dial from Leupold.

I shot it yesterday. Seems to hold zero and may even have magical powers. Granted this was 50 yards but I have NEVER had a Mini 14 do this. This is with military ammo. I will have to take it to a 100 yards next time out.

Granted this was 50yards So it doesn't really matter. It can hang with a decent .22 lr. So...
