I have almost zero experience with O/U shotguns, and really have no use for one. But I want one, I think confused2

I don’t want to spend a lot of money, so keep it under $700. What I want is wood stocks, stainless or nickel receiver, and choke tubes. Main use would be shooting clays.

What says the THF brain trust?

Yeldiz 20 gauge is nice and light also. I just would not get it in a 12, it smarts because it is so light.

Just follow Buzz to the Blaser store!.......Oops, not under $700. I bought a Yildiz in 28 gauge for the dove patch and it has been flawless. That said, if I were looking for a 20 guage for clays I would go semi, much less recoil.

I have the cheaper (~$450) Yildiz 20ga. Do 90% of my quail and dove hunting with it, over my Beretta 391 auto. It’s just a solid shooting reliable, light little gun. I looked through every one that Acadmy had in stock to find one with wood stocks I like. The nicer version (nicer wood) was $679 when I walked through Acadmey today and the one on display had cooler looking wood than the Beretta O/U that I used to have.

I would go with a 6-42X VortexForce & Bender with Horace reticle and MIL turrets.

I like the upside down Christmas’s tree lighted reticle. I prefer MOA turrets with Milradian has marks

I know what you mean. I was there Monday looking. They had a all blue one with nicely figured wood for $499 and a special edition for $699 with some boring ugly wood.

They seemed very stiff, does that get better with use?

You might want to look around for something used. Many of the cheaper ones have stiff actions and yes they do get a little better over time but they'll never be at the level of out of the box guns like Winchester, Browning and Beretta. You can do a little polishing work on them and even disable the ejectors but they still won't have the smoothness.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I did a little bit of polish work on mine when I first got it, but I got it originally for my wife. I end up shooting it more than anyone. It’s stiffer than my former Beretta, and still stiffer than the 1969 Browning Lightning my father in law just gave me. But I only notice the stiffness while shooting clays. I don’t notice it at all chasing blue quail around. And truthfully I don’t like my O/U to just fall out when I unlatch it either.

Browning Citori Lightning. Step up and buy it and you have a nice to hand down to someone.

I've had mine almost 30 years and it's still pretty tight.
