food cheers Gemsbok is the only other steak I had cooked like that, that would compare on taste and tenderness. It was very close if not better to me.

Maybe an elk steak grilled? Love axis as well. Best venison I've ever had.

Until I had Axis, the gemsbok stxranchman mentioned was the best wild meat I had ever eaten. I'd put Axis right there with it as well. I like them both better than elk, nilgai, kudu, or anything else for that matter.

Axis is some great eating meat. Only things I have killed I liked better a pronghorn doe that was in an alfalfa field in Montana and an Elk South of Van Horne that was standing in alfalfa field almost up to his belly. Those 2 critters ate so good but they had the groceries to be that way.

Day in and out will take Axis over most other mets

x2 on the Van Horn elk. The one I took was fantastic meat I long for some more!
