Within your budget I second the recommendation of a used SKB. I'm an upland hunter and have a Silver Pigeon ll, Citori Lightning, and an old SKB. The SKB is the only of the 3 that is in your budget. It is a solid shotgun that will stand the test of time and hard use. I would put it at the forefront of Value for your dollar, in the price range you specified.

This, have a nice pad fitted, remove the ejector rods and viola, sub $500 gun that will have great wood(provided you request to look at every one they have in stock)

Why remove the ejector rods?

Heck, what IS an ejector rod? I know ejectors, never heard of a rod.

Think about the inner workings of a double barrel shotgun. Then go to your safe and pull one out. Bet my lunch money you already know what it is. smile

Wade, I've got a SKB 20 o/u you can borrow just to see if you like it. Chokes are fixed IC and Mod so just about perfect for dove. Don't know why, bu I tend to shoot better with an O/U

Might have to meet you on the clay course one day, when the temps drop

So you don't throw the shells out on the ground when you open the gun...…...

They aren't stainless, but the Stevens in the mid 500 dollar range are darn good reliable well shooting guns

Used SKBis good advice if you can find one. The CZ/Huglu (Turkish made) are great and at your price point. I have berettas but do my dove hunting with a CZ. My favorite is my 28ga sxs, but the 20ga and 28ga O/Us are murder on doves.

The Yildiz uses a rod to trip the ejectors, I had TDK remove mine, made the gun an extractor and a lot easier to open

Ditto on browning, skb, beretta, etc if you can find one at that price. Yes on extractors but if ejectors it really is not that hard to trap the shells as one opens the breech of an ou. Something to be aware of is some ou makes have a safety that resets to on when the breech is opened. If you are shooting singles clays games then you have to remember to switch it off before calling for the bird. Otherwise, some old school referee will call "lost" when the gun goes 'click'!
