My understanding is that it's an Optics Planet typo. They are the only place on the web who has it listed that way. I can say this....it's not a product in the Pulsar catalog, it doesn't have a SKU on the price sheet and no one at Pulsar has ever mentioned it. Probably just an Optics Planet mistake. They wouldn't know an RXQ30V from a Photon XT if they were holding one in their hand.....but they sell more than all the rest of us mom and pop dealers combined. frown

There is only one RXQ and that's the $1899 RXQ30V. Also, a pro-tip, don't believe optics planet when they say its in stock.

You can easily switch from a daytime scope to thermal imaging. It's the best device I've ever owned.

Very nice scope for the price. It has easy to use functions. If you don't want to throw out a couple thousand dollars but you want to see in the darkest night - this device is a great option for you.

Sure is a lot of ATN talk going on. So let's break this down, shall we?

03/25/16 She "have got termal night vision" from ATN and it switches from "daytime scope to thermal imaging"

03/25/16 She has an ATN Thor and it makes hunting "more interesting and interactive".

04/30/16 Now she's got an X-Sight and she's "totally pleased" and recommending it.

05/01/17 She needs a gun safe for her handguns. Probably needs one for all her ATN's as well.

05/02/16 Now she's ordering an X-Sight and she's going to try it out and keep us posted. Weird because she already had one and loved it 3 days before.

Today at 03:23 AM Guess what? Today she's thinking about buying an X-Sight and doesn't know anything about ATN proaducts. What happened to her other 2 X-Sights and all her other ATN "termal"?

Today at 03:43 AM Oh wait....maybe she does know about ATN....she says "Just one more great ATN product!" And the good thing is if a forest fire is raging near her hunting lease, she will still be able to hunt.

What are your current recommendations in the 2k-3k, 3k-4K, and 4K-5k brackets? Thanks

See MDMorrow's post on 29 March early in this thread. I'd say it's still valid.

I have two unwritten rules:
1.
2.

Yessiree, I believe so. Don't think I'd change my thinking other than now the new Pulsar products are readily available, whereas in March, they were still anticipated.

Bringing this thread back to life. Any developments in the past 11 months? Particularly interested in <$5k. Is the XP50 still king or is there something coming down the pipe worth waiting for?

Nothing has really changed. No new 640 cores came out in 2018. The only thing new is the FLIR ThermoSight Pro PTS536 and PTS736. They are 320x240 and 4x and 6x optical magnification. Other than the new Trail LRF models coming soon, there isn’t much to speak of in the way of new thermal rifle scopes.

Yeah, and I am having trouble getting excited about anything FLIR riflescope with the amazing 12 micron Boson core. You have 5, or is it 6, image parameters to adjust and keep in balance to make for a decent image, aside from focus. Trjicon does it with just 2. Pulsar does it with just 2. Plus, FLIR doesn't seem to be able to field any new 640 Boson core scopes at all, despite hype that they were coming, which would seem to indicate that they are having issues with the development (maybe they spoke toooooo soon?).

Pretty much the same for the most part. There's some new optics coming from N-Vision in a few months. We've been running their Atlas binos. They're pretty sweet. Same core as trijicon.

Hasn't been announced yet on scopes. The Atlas bino is impressive at 5695 though. We've got a bunch of video and such on our facebook group. I've had it a month or so now. It's very cool.

Yeah, despite the advertised claimed, it is actually a bi-ocular and not binocular. Two eyes with 2 separate views gives you binocular vision. Two eyes with one view gives you bi-ocular vision. In other words, binocular vision actually gives you depth of field. Bi-ocular vision does not. So you have one thermal core in the Atlas with one lens that provides your view, and then two view screens for the same view.

I run a Pulsar XP38 Trail thermal scope. For the money, it is the best that I have found.

I have a brand new one for sale right now!

Is the recorded video on the Pulsars representative of what you see through the scope or is there degradation?

If you're talking about the internal recording on the Trails, the image is degraded some. You just don't get that crisp/sharpness that you do when you look through the scope. It's hard to estimate how much degrading is there but I'd guess you are seeing 70-80% as good as what the user sees when looking through the scope. That's just a number I've pulled out of thin air, but I the Trails do a really good job of keeping the quality high on the recordings.

If you use an external DVR on something like the Apexes you'll loose even more image quality on the video. I don't think the external DVR recordings do justice to the image quality of something like the Apexes.
