I have the Omega300 from SilencerCo. Works GREAT. I wouldn't say quietest. But, it is very light, very quiet, and has a great tone. I use it on 308, both bolt action and AR, 6.5 creedmoor, and 5.56. No complaints at all. It uses their ASR quick attach system that I can put on any rifle I want to use it on and makes it a breeze to move from one to another.
For a handgun can, I have a Rugged Obsidian45. It's super quiet and pretty light.
Thanks!! Matt
The psycho nut bags have always been there. They just get better press now. Take away their guns, they'll use knives. Take away their knives and they'll use sticks!!

What is the "best" really does depend on what you are looking for, as others have alluded to. However, assuming you are looking for an all-around rifle can to use on multiple hosts, I agree that the SilencerCo Omega is the way to go.
My Favorites:
Rifle - SilencerCo Omega Rimfire - SilencerCo Spectre II or Q El Camino Pistol - Rugged Obsidian or SilencerCo Osprey

I test a few a month.. frankly, if they are the same size, there isn't THAT much difference in loudness between any of them..
weight, length, accuracy and attachment method are what matter most

Some of it depends on your budget. The Omega is fairly affordable and given it's size and weight, quite a good value. If you can afford more, Crux are supposed to be pretty outstanding. If you can't swing the Omega, there are some good buys on AAC 762 and similar. I like the Omega; I also have the Harvester that is still light but a bit longer and doesn't have all the capacity of the Omega-but I don't need it to as it's a dedicated bolt-rifle can. Depending on what you need yours to do, though, it is plenty of can and very affordable. Quite a few people like GA, YHM, and a couple of other brands.
CCoker gave good advice above. If you are looking for an AR can, then weight and length are pretty important. If it's just a rifle can and you typically hunt from a box over a feeder, they become less so (expect for getting it out the window!).

My definition of "best" is customer service and repeatability. Therefore I chose thunderbeast the 2nd time around. On my original 51T AAC brake I had no "wiggle", 2 others had the wiggle which caused stringing and erratic poi shifts when it did lock up. The thunderbeast reputation in the precision scene was the best, subsequently my last 3 purchases have been from them with 0 regrets.

Thanks!! Matt Matt, I’m waiting on my Omega 300, should get it this month or next hopefully so I’m not Familiar with them yet. What’s the benefit of the ASR quick attach system vs just using the direct thread?

Best is relative term that will start lots of arguments.... I’ve got Omega Dead air sand man (great mounting system) Sig (good mounting system) Q. (DT) Sico harvester DT I’ve got 5 of them . They are by far the least expensive. I bought 2, then bought 3 more after I’d bought the others. They’re my personal favorite . Cool kids don’t use them, so they’re old news . ....
Make a list of what’s most important to you. Find one that fits that . Buy 2 of them. It makes it easier while you’re waiting on your next 3 or 4

Chad it's going on a .22 creedmoor, not really worried about price and would like the quietest.

if you want the quietest, get a full sized can. The hard part about saying which one is the quietest is that unless you test them in identical conditions with a very expensive DB meter (over $10k) you don't know for sure. There is no standard that all manufactures adhere to in their published specs. Even doing reviews on them it is hard, I spent $300 bucks on a mic for my camera to hopefully capture the sound better, but it's impossible to really capture and demonstrate on a YT video the difference in loudness due to compression.
I would take absolute accuracy and return to zero every time over a can that is slightly quieter. I love my Crux cans, two shorties, Nemesis30 and an Archangel. I can switch between any of them have the bullets cutting the same hole. The short ones aren't as quiet of course but they are fine for hunting, especially on a longer barrel.
The Q and Sig cans sound good, same can really. I have a Deadair Sandman Ti (full size, direct thread) on my desk right now, it is no where near as light as my Crux cans but I bet it sounds good.
Griffin makes good cans and I like their taper mount system, that type of interface is to me the best, I prefer it over direct thread as it is concentric and provides for a repeatable mount and thus return to zero. Gives you flexibility and even run hard on an AR won't back off like direct threads can.
I am a huge fan of lightweight cans so I definitely like Ti and the ones I have are SBR and full auto rated. For hunting, things like the Griffin Sportsman that are aluminum are good.
I tend to categorize them as short, medium and long. I think the midsize cans are a great balance between size, weight and sound reduction. The Dead Air Sandman-S and the Griffin Reece7 are both good examples and they are priced well.
Get what you want, it's kind of a lifetime purchase.

Crux Suppressors, I have the Saxon9 7.5" it is pimp ti**ies. length, weight, versatility, suppression it has it all
Plus when i call Crux and ask is you can rated for ___? there response is "if the bullet will go through the hole, it rated for it" translation my 9mm pistol, 338 lapua on down all get the same can and it is nice and quiet....

I think I'm going with an Omega 300. Does it matter where I buy it? Thanks for the info. guys. You can buy one anywhere you want, but I'd stick close to home so when its ready you can get it easier. If your buddy has one, you CAN buy it from him. He will send in the paper work to the ATF. The can must remain w/ him until the your approval if final. Then when he receives the stamp you can go get hit from him. Basically it doesn't matter where you buy it so find the best price closest to you.......

Chad it's going on a .22 creedmoor, not really worried about price and would like the quietest. Then go with a bigger can. Not a compact or 6" small can. The larger the can, the more gas it holds, therefore quieter. The quietest can I heard was a 338 Lapua can on a 308. Very large can means larger volume to hold the escaping gases. I run a 10" magnum can, and it's super quiet. I'm about to purchase another can, and I'm going with the Crux Arch 7.5" can. IMO, it's the best can on the market. The Nemesis 6" is good, but I also want something quieter. The 2 cans I have seen go down range were both Thunderbeast cans. They use a thinner metal tube to save weight, and weld at the front to hold the adapter in place. Guess where both cans broke- at thin part at the front at the weld.

yep, a mid sized, 30 cal can with a taper mount is what I recommend to people as their first can.. good for everything..
Having all 3 sized of the same brand is cool to be able to really hear what the size and thus volume does, can't beat physics. Bigger can is quieter of course.
My brother has 2 Nemesis30s and 2 Ark30s He runs the Ark30 on his 11" 6.8 as the Nemesis just isn't quite quiet enough for him.
I have 2 Nemesis 30s and an Archangel 30. I also have an Ark556 that I run on my 556 rifles (duh!) I actually screwed up my order and did it I guess as when it came in I was thinking (and looking forward to getting) and Ark30, oh well, I have a great dedicated 556 can

Best I figure, as loo omg as it's a legit shop with a receipt/invoice that clearly shows full payment. Then yes it does qualify.
