I'm not a fan (no pun intended) of wind turbines but they do make interesting photograph subjects.

I hate them...if not for government subsidies, there would not be one anywhere.

I hate them and 100% agree. With that said it’s hard as an ag production dependent landowner to ignore the monetary gains for such a minute loss of land usage

Yep. Those turbines in the picture are across our north fence on our neighor's. The company made an offer to us but we rejected it. But no matter where you go on our place you can see those things. Plus, the turbine companies tear up the roads out there like crazy.

But it is fun to make liberal's heads explode when you can say Texas the US in renewable energy usage.

had a test one on one quarter, it was nice to get that check, it right in the corner and did not mess things up to much.

Funny you should post this. I passed them today on the way from Abilene to Munday and thought what a neat picture that would make.

That can't be a real picture. There isn't a gigantic crane backed up to any of the broken ones.

They were actually working on the fourth one to the left. The thing sounded like it really needed some WD-40.

They ruin the night sky too with their infernal blinking red lights.

I was driving to Colorado last summer, through the night, up around Amarillo, I think, I started seeing these flashing red lights in the darkness. Had no idea what it was. Sun came up and I saw it was "wind farms." I pulled in to get a bite and gas up and of course it was windy as all get-out up there. I was holding the door for a woman who commented something about the wind. I pointed out to the turbines and said, "Yeah, someone needs to turn off all those damn fans!"

I wouldn't want to live next to them. But If they were on my lease I wouldn't care. Renewable energy is the future like it or not. US has provided subsidies to petroleum and coal for 100 years to the tune of 20 billion just last year. That is for a mature industry that shouldn't need it anymore. I understand they look terrible, wish they could put them were nobody could see. smile

Don't like and wouldn't want, but my grandson is a tech working on them and making a hell of a good living.

Besides the visual impact on our landscape, these things chew up a few birds each year. This is a study from 2014, and I would bet there are quite a few more wind turbines out there today, so this number is probably a bit low. I also read that they find piles of bats under the turbines as well. Wish they would make the blades long enough to whup up on the feral hog population!

Even without the windmills, that OP picture has an awesome sky.
