Checking on my feeder and saw a squirrel run up the tree.
Was being still watching for squirrel to move and saw a hummingbird carrying a mouth full of something.
Knew she must be building a nest or feeding young so remained still and watched her until she landed.

Took the first two off roof of my mule to show nest - it's the little cone made out of lichen and moss on end of dead limb.

Pardon picture quality as I had to back off into brush about 35 feet away and sit real still so they would return.
If you look about 6" to the left of the female sitting on nest, you can see the top of the males head sitting nearby.

Closeup of female sitting on her nest.

HI have only seen one humming bird nest years ago. They were feeding youngsters when I found it.

Great photo. They are very difficult to locate. I watch the hummers go up into the trees all the time and I know there must be a nest up there, but just cannot locate it.
