What’s the lightest bullet grain factory ammo that is available for 270 win. Is 130 grain about as light as it gets ?

Look for some 100 gr'ers in the bigger shops in the DFW Metro Mess, or online at the usual suspects sites....

The lightest bullet you can load is an 85 grain Barnes, 90 grain Speer TNT, Sierra 90 grain, and several 100 grain options. I used to shoot the 100 grain Hornady SP at 3500 fps in my 270. It was a hammer on deer and pigs. The bullet was surprisingly tough and gave good penetration going that fast. If there is something specific you are wanting, let me know and I can load you something up.

If I didn’t have so many 130 gr bullets, I’d sure try that 110 gr Nosler Accubond. Might can get that one up to about 3500 FPS.

You'd have to have a longer barrel than the standard 22" to make it happen. 3350-3400 should be doable with a 110 grain, on the max end.

Core-lokt 130 grain is all you need. If that is too much load, go with a .243

???? Please explain what you are talking about.

What's a 7MM AM?
What's it got to do with light bullets in a 270?
Who makes a 200gr 7mm bullets.
What cartridge will launch it fast enough to have 2200 ft-lbs at 1200 yards?
What does that have to do with light bullets in a 270??

What are you smokin'??

Whoa tiger!!! I had looked up different 270 projectiles which led me ALL the way to a 7mm Allen Magnum. It’s a 338Lapua necked to a 7mm and shoots a 200gr up to 3300fps.

What I want to know too. And what’s the objective? Not because I know the answer, but because I hunt with 270 and would like to know what some others use other than 130 and 150’s, though every other bullet I ever use won’t shoot well like that cheap-o green and yellow box will. Hey, she’s a factory gun, thru and thru. Keeps my costs down I reckon.

I’m basically trying to take an old cheap 270 and turn it into a flat shooting truck/varmint gun. Chad I will be sending you a PM. Thanks for the responses.

I've got an old load data of 61.5 grains 4350 giving just under 3500 fps with 100 grain bullets and another using 54.4 grains 4895 giving 3600 fps with a 100 grainer.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.
