Found one of my traps with a little damage this morning. I figure it must have been a pretty good sized hog to do that kind of damage to the door of the trap. It is made of 1 1/4 inch angle and he put a pretty good bend in it....and left. It was wedged about half the way open when I found it. I finally had to back my truck up and put the trailer hitch against the door to get it straightened out again.

There's nothing like a little motivation to make things happen. I guess he didn't want to end up as pulled pork.

Wouldn't want to meet that hog alone in a dark alley …

I've had a lot of traps torn up over the years, but this looked like he must have been biggie! I had one once that tore about an 18 inch hole in the back of a trap and left. You would think they would back off a little from pain...but I guess they can just ignore it. I've seen a lot of snouts torn up with them trying to get out and they just completely ignore the pain and keep running at the sides of the traps.

After raising hogs years ago, I can believe just about anything. Sometimes they get PO'd and just want to break something. An old sow with piglets will scare the heck out of you charging the pen. I've seen them blow thru the farrowing pen with yellow pine 2x6s every 4" and posts every 4' like it was cardboard. We had to put hog panels in the pens in addition to the 2x6s.
