I had two Ruger Americans. Beside the fact that the detachable mags were a POS, wouldn't feed properly, and the stock had the rigidity of a McDonald's straw, and one of the worst triggers to be found on a sporting rifle, they shot pretty good. To say they are the equal of a Tikka anything is laughable. Nobody said they were equal to a Tikka. And they shouldn't be for half the price.
Haha yea I polished that thing for hours.

I said IMO they are an equivalent for my purposes. Why spend the money on a Tikka (especially now) when an American Predator will cut holes and never fail you. Anyway.....

I don't own one but haven't heard anything other than positive. They make good rifles, but they're overrated IMO. What is an equivalent alternative? I don't run mine hard practicing for or competing in matches, so my opinion on an equivalent alternative will be different than yours. All of my rifles are only used for hunting/target practice (though I do want to get into long range comps someday when I have a life again lol). IMO for my use, an equivalent alternative would be a Ruger American. Savage would not be, as they rate a little higher in my book. I own a number of Savage rifles, several that I shoot regularly and have for a long time and have never had a single issue with. If I ran them like you do though it may be a different story. I'm thinking about building my first comp gun off of a brand new Tikka 243 that I have in the safe. I'll be using the action only. Have you shot a Tikka before?

The simple act of cycling a round into the chamber via the magazine is no gimme when a Ruger American is involved. Ruger knows their mags suck. Cycling a round is pretty important whether your hunting, target shooting, or whatever I would think. The RAR's are notorious for failures.

Ummm ....by chance does anybody know (or care) if Franchi is owned by Beretta??? The pics of the "Momentum" sure look like a Tikka T3 Lite knockoff, at a lil reduced MSRP. Reminds me of the S&W built TC Venture nee cheaper replacement rifle so S& W could slip out of the sales Gimmick of the Lifetime Warranty commitment on the Ventures.
The race to the bottom price point is underway, IMO, that gave us the "memorable Remmy 710"....but the 710's stock did fit me really well. Too bad ALL the metal work in the barreled action was the absolute worst CF rifle ever foisted off on the American Sportsmsn..and why MY 710 became a tomato stake....until I could find somebody dumber than I was.
Ya'll carry on with the Savage X's Tikka X's RAR's comparison LOLOLOL and I'll continue to pick up the leftovers from Finland when I can. Just Sayin' Old Folks on SS like me need a Good Hyper Reliable & Cheap product to hand down to my son's or other deserving souls when I'm gone, and Tikka's have always fulfilled that role for SAKO, who's credo has always been to build a product that would last for Generations as part of the original buyers Estate. I've got lots of rounds fired experience with both, and my opinion is exactly opposite. I've worn out 5 ejector springs, and replaced 2 extractor springs, and detents in Savages. I've never had to work on a Tikka bolt, or action.

IMO SAKO/Tikka's will always be made in Finland...but...now with Beretta calling the drill they could eventually be made in Italy like the Beretta CF rifles that used the SAKO receivers, with barrels and furniture all designed and made in Italy. Just Sayin' Lot of hurt Finnish Pride with the Nokia Sale of SAKO to a FORIEGN Company. Ron
