As selling:

The awesome: It's a virtually unheard-of 5.45 bolt gun!! Savage Axis originally chambered in .223. Green Mountain barrel blank profiled, chambered and headspaced by a local smith who builds and shoots long-range competition guns. .223 bolt face opened up by same smith. Snyder 15-round .223 magazine (holds 13- 5.45 rounds), also comes with factory 4-round removable box mag. Some kind of fancy muzzle device from a brand I can't remember, it was like $75 though. Feeds and fires without a problem.

The slightly less awesome: shoots commercial 5.45 all day long, as well one of the two surplus rounds I tried out. The other surplus ammo was getting light strikes about 90% of the time. I already added a heavier spring, but I'm sure there's room for more improvement on that. I don't know the source of the surplus ammo I was using, but the stuff that wouldn't fire off (harder primers, obviously) was the kind with the red lacquer bands around the bullet where it meets the case. Also worth mentioning for full disclosure, I had two episodes of stuck cases toward the end of my last outing, had to tap the bolt handle to get them dislodged. I'm thinking that was just the lacquer on the casings. At any rate, I cleaned it out after that with special attention to the chamber, so hopefully that takes care of that.

I probably only have a couple hundred rounds through it so far, but I had a brilliant idea for my next 5.45 rifle (stay tuned!), so I'm cutting this one loose to finance it. I'm looking for $600 shipped to your doorstep within Texas, more if I have to go FFL from my end. Discreet Paypal, CashApp, or USPS MO only. I also have some spam cans of 5.45 if you're local to me (Corpus), don't want to mess with shipping those though.
