Id like to see about finding a smith to rebarrel my 260 Tikka CTR to a shorter 6.5 Creed barrel. The purpose is for better handling in a blind hunting suppressed. With all due respect, I dont care to hear all the opinions on why people wouldnt. Just looking for someone good who does them. Thanks in advance.

I had Horizon Firearms rebarrel my Tikka 270 to 6.5 /284 and while it was there had them paint the stock and it looks like a custom build.... shoots like one too.

THF member "trigger time".

Builds all mine, builds Chad's, builds many other THF members rifles. If one of his doesn't shoot tiny, it is something wrong with the ammo, or the shooter.

Tony Trigger Time, Horizon or Scott Weichel would be the 3 I would be considering. Have watched some of Tony and Scotts work and both men know what they are doing.

IIf I could live with the 260 for a while, would also consider for a mostly huntign rifle cut the barrel down and thread it until it is shot out. Tikka CTR are generally pretty good shooters

^^100% agree.

Nothing wrong with the .260 Rem IF YOU ARE A HAND LOADER. And Tikka barrels shoot! It'll do what the 6.5 Creedmoor will do. Might take a tad more load tweaking to get there, but it'll get there. I put 2500 rounds through a .260 Rem, and when the barrel was solid, it was an extremely precise shooting cartridge, shooting the same bullet, at the same speed as a 6.5 Creedmoor.

S&S precision in Denton rebarreled mine and my fathers Tikka and did an excellent job in a timely fashion . They do benchrest tactical and hunting rifles you can pull them up online or Facebook. Their references are superb.

Isn't the 260 almost the same as 65cm?

More than almost.

Shoots the same bullets at the same speed. Different case geometry, and the .260 needs a bit more powder IME. In the end, bith cartridges for me shot a 140 gr at 2800 fps. Take a .260 Rem 1400 yard DOPE chart, and use it for a 6.5 Creedmoor.

yeah, unless you just want to be able to get all the 6.5 ammo that is readily available I would just shorten the barrel.
Morgan at Class 3 Machining took my CTR 20" 308 down to 16 and threaded it, great work.

Morgan's prices are good as well

Morgan at Class 3 is great for barrel work. I have used him several times. Jason, Robert, and the guys at Alamo are great too but last time we spoke I had the impression they were pretty covered up on builds.

How much does trigger time charge to rebarrel?

I highly recommend Mark Pharr of Tumbleweeds Customs in Round Rock.

Prices are on his website & you can call & discuss your project with Mark & he does the work.

I find this statement to be inaccurate, at least from my personal 1 time experience. I still have a written quote from Alamo for considerably more than what TriggerTime charged me. Customer service was better with Triggertime too. The fellar that's helping me with load development has already shot .39 MOA with my rifle. I have little experience in this area but if I do it again I'm using Triggertime, no question.

You dont know me

No I don't, but I think I will meet you in July in Wolfe City, no? I'm now understanding that maybe you meant his is fair market value and those others are...not. If that's the case, I stand corrected. Obviously you know where my money went but in defense of the less friendly skilled labor/machinist, they have staff payroll and overhead that my preference doesn't. It was the customer service that did it for me.
